Dieting whilst ttc

Ok, so I know really I should do the dieting then ttc but I can't stand the thought of wasting months. Been ttc for about 7-9 months now..

Lost nearly 3 stone on Cambridge diet in last 8 weeks but getting cold feet about it. Still got about 2 stone to lose before I am the weight I was when I fell pg with DS.

Thing is, I'm concerned this diet is a bit extreme when ttc.. I hear a lot about people getting pg when on it, but wonder is this just because they have lost weight/it's regulated their periods etc..
I am regular as clockwork and only noticeable change to periods whilst on diet is that it's lighter flow than before, but it wasn't unmanageable before anyway.

If I get pregnant, I have to come straight off the diet as it's contraindicated whereas if I were on Slimming World (never done it before but have the details) I could stay on it as it's ok when pregnant, so I wouldn't get this cold turkey effect of coming off the diet.

Not convinced we have succeeded this month (due end of week) anyway but thinking maybe if I'm going to switch I should do so now rather then when I fall pg..

Thoughts/experience anyone?

P.s. having blood tests day 2/3 and 21/22 (PCOS, thyriod etc etc) and DH will be doing a sperm test next cycle if no joy.

What is the Cambridge diet?

Hello, I think that slimming world would be a better longterm approach. It gives you balanced nutrition which means it is a lifestyle change rather than a "diet". Diet is a word misused as the word "diet" actually just describes what is eaten daily, it is a new interpretation that implies a restriction. From a health point of view a slow steady weight loss coupled with good nutrition will lead you where you want to go. The Cambridge and other meal replacement regimes just lead to a negative mindset as unless you stay restricted you have effectively "broken" your diet - life's not about that, flexibility is better. Good luck

Thanks for the responses, sorry I didn't notice them earlier.

Have actually taken a break from all of it for now (tho not going mad on the food) and will see how I feel next week as to what to do next. I can do a higher step of Cambridge which is more like a GI diet so might go that route for a bit (assuming I don't find out I'm pregnant..).

Beefcake; I agree with your thoughts about the mindset of dieting but I needed to do something to get the lionshare of the weight off. Thinking now I can move towards a more conventional weight loss plan..
