New thread for 2010

I logged on to mumsnet website thinking about joining, at long last, and spotted the competition for tickets to Taste of Birmingham. I entered and was surprised to win!

I had to wait till the last minute to see who could come with me - husband was working, friend wasn't answering phone, another friend was at a meeting, and I had to wait for my sister to come back from Cyprus only 2 days before the event. Yes? No? Yes? No? Yes sister - phew!

Had lovely time - participating with AEG Electrolux on the Angela Malik stand making a chilli paneer stir fry (even though I missed off the vinegar, still tasted nice), bought several dishes on some of the stands with our free "crowns", and had some nice champagne supplied by AEG. We also Met another mumsnet mum who had won free tickets, and chatted about Cameron and the "nappies" issue he wasn't aware of. Also bought some good rapeseed oil with a higher burn point that I heard about at the cookery school, and had some "crowns" left to buy some goodies to take home.

Being a carer I had to get off sooner than I really wanted to, but I had wanted to get to Taste of Birmingham since it started, so I was determined to make the most of it. I did it all in time to rush off at 2pm to meet my disabled son off school transport!

I enjoyed it so much I thought I would go back on Sunday, this time taking my husband and younger disabled son to try out some more tastes of Birmingham and chill to the music on the bandstand.

hello again 1701tribbles...we also bought the cold pressed rapeseed oil as we were so impressed with our cooking efforts....nice to meet a mumsnetter, albeit briefly
