Moving to wales

Hello.
I don’t think I’ve posted on the right bit but here I go..
i am looking to move my two children from Hertfordshire to wales. Can you tell me what parts are nice to live? We have explored areas but found it all a little overwhelming. We would like to move to offer the children a more outdoorsy life and I find being by the sea and nature so much better for my mental health.
has anyone made the move and found you settled ok? Did you find jobs ok etc?

@HermioneWeasley Languages beget languages in my experience. Mine can speak English, Welsh, French and a sprinkling of Spanish.

Really this is a non-issue.

Totally agree.

My 4yo DD is under SALT and we are a completely English speaking household, yet after only 2 years part time Cylch (Playgroup) and Meithrin (Nursery Class) she is already speaking loads of Welsh, singing even more and understands a huge amount. Coming from England where schools on the whole are crap at teaching foreign languages, it is amazing to see.

Thank you @Tiredmum100 ! I didn’t think there would be a shortage in nursing roles 🙈 I do look now and again online at different roles! We’ve been talking about moving to wales for so long now. I think we just need to get our jobs sorted and take the leap

@RIPWalter

This is lovely to know. We have nieces in wales and they speak fluently in Welsh and they originally did live in England

What is your budget for a home OP?

Crocsandshocks · 05/07/2022 21:24

Ceredigion is also nice but super rural and less facilities. Less crowded.

Second what people say about gower and Mumbles though its so expensive now, depending on budget.

Part of their curriculum time will be spent learning Welsh. Would you rather that than a modern European language?

What a silly post!

  1. Welsh IS a modern European language
  2. It's actually pretty useful to have a bit of Welsh if you live in Wales! Opens up job opportunities more than, say, French or Spanish, believe it or not!

Hey I know this is old but did you move to Wales? I'm in exact same position, want to leave Hertfordshire for Swansea.
