Back pain at wits end

Hi I would appreciate your thoughts with my situation please as I don’t know what to do next . . Lower back ache for over 30 years . Now it’s making me so miserable where I’m irritable and clumsy . Sleep and sitting is a misery and uncomfortable . MRI is clear and new physio has now said Hypermobility in lower back and knees and elbows ( they ache too but not as bad as my back ) . My inflammation markers were high too ) . Im on pain relief all the time now and trying not to go to opioids but not sure what to do next . What are your thoughts ? Gp not any help

No advice but definitely sympathy. I'm in pain and sometimes I feel like crying. The specialist wants me to start on morphine patches

I am the same at the moment, I am 43 and consider myself reasonably fit but I don’t think I have been exercising enough lately.

I had scans years ago which showed some thinning of my lumber (lower spine), I was told to build up my lower back muscles to reduce pain. I did this and for a while it was much better, but in the past couple years I have had major surgery (hysterectomy) and since I have found it harder to exercise and now I am in a lot of pain. It’s worse whilst sitting and lying down, I use heat packs at night to get comfortable enough to sleep. It’s really getting me down as I can’t get comfortable unless walking around.

I’m in the same boat. In my 40s and struggling to get out of bed or bend down some days. Diagnosed with EDS which may be the cause of your hypermobility.

for me I’ve found that the only thing which helps is 30 mins a day of various exercises. Cat cows, hip bridges, lots of mobility rotation type stuff. I do a bit of weightlifting a couple of times a week as well like deadlifts. Got to keep moving or you get in a downward spiral.

Strength work on building core and glute strength and core stability. Get the muscles to a pkace where they’re working together and taking most of the load.

sad as it is for you all, it is reassuring to hear I’m not alone as it feels likrr Ed it . I’m waiting for a specialist physio to give me a list of exercises as I’m scared to make it worse . What pain relief do you take ? How do you sleep , I’m in so many positions and waking a lot :(

Prescription cocodamol helps but i only take it sporadically. I tend to sleep on my side with a knee pillow between my knees. Got a frozen shoulder currently on top of everything else to add to the nighttime pain.

I find a Tens machine sometimes offers abit of relief. Mine is from Boots. It is going to vary for each person what does/ dosen't offer relief. So more trying stuff....hopefully some options on here you haven't tried will help give some relief.
