Tips for managing housework when in crohnic pain

I am in crohnic pelvic pain that radiates to my coccyx bone, back and thighs. Any cleaning such as bathroom, hoovering etc causes me to flare up massively.
Please share your tips how you manage. I can't afford a cleaner :(
Thank you xx

Robot hoover/mop.
Maybe try second hand if you don't want to go for new? We have a eufy that is fairly good.

One of those attachment things that releases toilet cleaner into the bowl at each flush?

Do you live with anyone else?

I'm in a similar situation. I have an irobot but actually find it so much faff preparing, bending to pick everything up so it doesn't get caught in it, rolling up rugs that are too thick. I've now bought a very light weight rechargeable sweeper from argos and just run that round every morning quickly, it does the trick most of the time. Mopping, I don't have a solution. I couldn't afford the robot mop, so just use a normal mop when necessary.

@Contycontwhat attachment do you mean? My toilet often looks dirty due to lots of limescale, would love to get to grips with it.

Bloo toilet blocks

I was thinking of this? Not sure how effective they are long term but they seem to keep on top of timescale here.

There's also a book called "How to keep house while drowning" which you might find useful.

Thanks for all of your tips. I definitely need a robot vacuum and mop!

Robot vacuum and mop changed my disabled dad's life. He loves George (that's what he called it). He also has duster slippers so he picks up some dust just pottering around the house.

Zoning. Zone each room in your house however you like, and make a deal with yourself to clean 2 zones on X day, 1 zone on Y day etc. Make it bite sized and manageable, as long as you have a rotating schedule everything will get done eventually. Sometimes when you're in pain even the idea of cleaning one room can be overwhelming, but maybe just cleaning one small area of one room can feel doable.

Also forgive yourself if you can't do it sometimes. An occasionally messy house honestly isn't the worst thing in the world.

Clean the bathroom in stages. Every time you go to the bathroom do something. Trip 1 clean the sink, trip 2 wipe down the loo (cleaning wipes) and pop some bleach down the pan. Trip 3 flush the loo and spray cleaner round the bath. Trip 4 rinse the bath (I have a long handled shower scrubber from Lakeland or John Lewis that works wonder) trip 5 tidy the towels/replace bath mats.

basically lots of little 2 minute jobs so you can break it up. I do the same when I’m overwhelmed and I’m pain with my back although I do make my budget work to have a cleaner monthly by making sacrifices in other areas but appreciate not everyone has taht wiggle room in their budget.

That's a good idea. Unfortunately I can't even open bleach bottles with my painful weak hands, have now had to resort to bleach spray which isn't as strong.

Then don’t use bleach. I have a cleaning brush that has disposable pads for the loo from toilet duck. I use that instead as bleach affects my son’s asthma. If you need to use bleach as a friend to pop some down when visiting to help you out.

Brilliant ideas, thank you 😊 xx
