Hey, I have a colonoscopy booked for tomorrow morning, I’m so nervous and not sure I’m strong enough to get through it. I don’t know what to expect or anything it can be compared to. I don’t know what to do, I can’t stop crying.

It's fine. Opt for sedation. The staff I had were so lovely - I felt very well looked after. The diagnosis changed my life - even if it had been painful - which it wasn't_ it would have been worth it. I was on a pathway for bowel cancer and the diagnosis was coeliac disease.

The prep is the most uncomfortable part. And I got great advice from here on how to deal with it. Take your iPad and some sudocrem into the loo as you'll not be straying far.

Go for it! Flowers

I had a ridged proctoscopy which I found really painful,Dr said it was a bit uncomfortable, I asked if he had ever had one! I didn't have any problems with the colonoscopy. I used to assist with them in Out patients, people sometimes found the air uncomfortable, they put in to enlarge structures so they can see. I didn't have aperients the night before like a lot of people on here,a low fibre diet, beforehand and an enema, that was fun,2 toilets and half a dozen patients! There was a lot of people in the room,at least you won't have this.... consultant looks down at my face, says I look familiar, yup, I worked in the same hospital, different department! Easier said than done, I know, but if you relax, and hopefully you will after a few minutes. Let the staff you are nervous, they won't be phased...I guarantee most of them haven't had one.. Good luck.
