All this hell because of a B12 deficiency?

Hi all, haven’t posted on here in a while!

Just seeking some advice/experiences to see if anyone out there has gone through the same or similar.

Long story short I’ve been feeling like crap for quite a while now but lately it’s gotten worse. Exhaustion, extreme fatigue, anxiety, depression, aches and pains, general feeling of weakness, etc. However, lately I seem to be getting random nerve pains in random areas of my body (mainly back, legs and arms) it’s almost like electric shocks that are only short-lived but they are so painful when they occur. Lately I’ve been waking up with pins and needles in my hands and feet. I’ve had my blood levels checked and all came back normal apart from significantly low b12, which I have finally been given treatment for today.

Can low b12 really make you feel all these horrible things? I’m scared it’s something more sinister but the GP doesn’t seem to think so. I do suffer from quite severe health anxiety so GP thinks some of my symptoms are anxiety related.

Thoughts?

There’s a b12 support group on Facebook which is incredibly helpful. Yes, b12 deficiency causes nerve damage, my daughter has neurological symptoms which have been sorted with b12 injections. You also need cofactors to support the b12 injections, iron and folate mainly but also magnesium and potassium (can do these via food). The injections really do work, be ready for a worsening if symptoms initially, often known as ‘reversing out’. Join the Facebook group, we’ve found it excellent.

Deal with your B12 and your anxiety, they are probably both contributing.

Thank you so much for the advice, will definitely join the Facebook group. Thought I was going crazy lol! Hopefully my treatment works soon.
