To suffer in silence

I have osteopenia, arthritis, nerve pain, muscle pain and am on tablets that has a side effect of joint pain.
I also have plantar fasciitis and metatarsalgia. I can't take anti inflammatories as I also have kidney disease.

I am in so much pain pretty much all the time but I suffer in silence as nobody wants to be around someone who just moans all the time and is an atmosphere hoover.

I have friends who are as fit as a fiddle and they know my conditions but want to walk absolutely everywhere. It's not that I blame them but I either keep up and suffer or just don't go anywhere.

It's miserable 😞

Yes, I know how this feels and it is indeed miserable. I was a very active person and all my friends are horsey as I was. These days I can only walk a few minutes with my rollator and am pretty much housebound.
I make a huge effort not to talk about it unless asked directly and try my hardest not to ask for help because I have a horror of being a burden or somebody that makes people’s heart sink if they see a message or call from me come up.

Is it time to have your meds reviewed to see if a more effective combo is available?

Have you actually told your friends that your conditions make long walks very difficult? I found using the 'spoons' analogy really helped them to understand (I have a decades old injury that now slows me up considerably, and if overdo it, I pay the next day)

Have you had a chat with an OT? Get suggestions for aids? Mobility scooter?

If you were my friend, I'd want to know.

I have mild arthritis and had very sore feet for ages now and that's bad enough.
