To have my vagina sewn up?

I have a prolapse bladder
Had it 30 plus years but got worse in the last few years.( I'm 66). Had a total hysterectomy age 38 and various other gynaecology operations before that. I had abdominal adhesions and my bladder is stuck to my bowels.. which are stuck to my intestine and colon.. l have urge/ stress incontinence (I'm on medication) get chronic pelvic and bladder pain .. UTI's and BV.
l could have more surgery to lift it back into place ..but could make adhesions worse and its major surgery because would have to separate adhesions and Mesh isn't an option with NHS England. A ring pessary to hold it in place might not work because it's usually for mild prolapse and people with a cervix. I could have it removed and have catheter bag attached. Or l could have my vagina sewn up to stop it coming out all together. I have been celebate for 10 years and don't intend to have sex ever again. Anyone had this drastic option .. or any of the other options? I'm due to see my consultant again in April.

Oh OP I'm so sorry for you to have this situation.

I can't advise but I have stage three cystocele and rectocele and the ring pessary doesn't do Anything for the cystocele it only helps for the rectocele.

So I have the cystocele rubbing more when the rectocele is held back.

Good luck with whatever you decide OP.

No experience of this, but would like to send love from a fellow broken woman!

Have you actually talked through your options with a urogynae surgeon. I’m in a similar position as you @PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance and I’m paying to see someone next month.

I use Vagifem, which controls the bladder problem. Apparently, lack of oestrogen causes the tissues to become sore and irritated. I wouldn’t consider the closed vagina option, as I couldn’t manage without the Vagifem. It also seems a drastic solution. I would wonder whether it would cure the problem, as a closed opening wouldn’t necessarily put things back where they belong.

It’s a horrible problem that’s for sure and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

I think the OPs issues are a universe away from vagifem sorting it out

Where did I say Vagifem would sort everything out? I said I use Vagifem but I’m in a similar boat to @PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance so I’m PAYING FOR A SURGICAL OPINION.

Have you anything to say that’s actually helpful?

I live in the EU. To fix my bladder prolapse, I had “tension free tape” surgery to fix stress incontinence/bladder prolapse. It’s been life changing and, I think, minimally invasive with none of the complications of mesh. I don’t know if it’s available on the NHS, but surely it’s worth asking before electing the vaginal closure option. Wishing you well OP xx

Those aren't tempting options, are they @PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance ?

Would you still get a heavy dragging sensation from your bladder prolapse despite your vagina being sewn up?

Would you still be prone to urine infections?

If you had it removed and had a catheter, what is the likelihood of urine infections?

What is your feeling on it?
