Fallen foot arch

Has anyone had any success rebuilding a fallen foot arch?

I didn't even know that was a thing! Both of my arches have collapsed due to a chronic condition, I go to Hydrotherapy every week and my physio has never peeped a gas at rebuilding. The best I can do is get Orthotics to make insoles

Aw I just hoped it was, through exercise and physio, maybe it's not an option

Mine did - I had nasty multiple tears/plantar fasciitis secondary to Psoriatic Arthritis - I got up one morning and felt the entire sole collapse onto the floor after about three painful steps. I wore a boot for about six months to give it the maximum chance to heal and started gradually strengthening the leg and then foot muscles.

I still wear custom orthotics all the time I'm in shoes and I'm barefoot when indoors - the combination of the two means the foot muscles creating the arch still have strength but don't get overworked from an entire day on my feet. The podiatrist reckons it's unusual but not impossible, as he's seen the change in my moulds over the last five years.

Yes over many years. Was told in my mid-20s by a specialist that I needed orthotics or “I guess unless you did yoga twice a day” when I insisted if there was another way. Floor ballet, the Alexander technique and lots of foot exercises. I have to do it regularly though and notice it falling in if I stop for a while. I have a proper arch in one of my feet now, the other one is still a bit of an issue but I think it will improve to the same level over the next few years as I focus on asymmetric exercises.

Doing this every evening -
Yoga ball for the feet and roller, do it whilst watching tv or anything routinely throughout day, https://uk.blochworld.com/products/foot-roller and https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-spikey-massage-balls-set-of-3/p5991740
Do “yoga toes” training to get strength in the feet, that’s being able to lift each toe separately, needs a lot of strength. https://www.pafootdoctors.com/blogs/yoga-strengthen-feet-ankles-toes
I have paid for all-levels ballet classes that are focused on fundamentals, very slow and technique based, PT were focused on leaning and strengthening feet. I was shocked by the price of bespoke orthotics and to me the price of prevention would outweigh pain and future problem solving treatment.

My feet were completely flat, and it was causing knee and hip pain in my mid-20s. My joints are more mobile so I wasn’t strong through feet. So I went all in for anything and did it everyday.

You need to see an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon.

The most common cause of a fallen arch in adults is tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction. Easily treated with appropriate orthotics and physio in the early stages. Can progress to require extensive reconstruction of corrective hindfoot fusion in some cases if left untreated.

Yes I just wear good orthotics
