Chronic pain

Chronic tight Achilles and calves post partum - anyone?!

Looking for some ideas I haven’t thought of…

Gave birth nearly a year ago (maybe relevant). About 3 months post partum, started waking up with really stiff, painful calf muscles and Achilles in both legs, with zero mobility. Literally hobbling up and down stairs. After my last child, at a similar point, I’d developed plantar fasciitis, which went away at c. 9 months pp, so assumed it was something similar.

It’s now really impacting on quality of life Sad if I walk too much, I get shooting pains up the side of both my legs. I’ve stretched, iced, heated, massaged, and rested - no change. I’ve tried osteopathy and acupuncture - no change. A masseuse said every time she tried to stretch out the calf, it pinged back again suggesting a chronic state of tension. The GP has only suggested more stretching. I’m starting to worry this is never going to go away and I can’t think what it might be! Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Ha, thanks for asking - absolutely fine! I think it lasted for another couple of months or so, around the time I stopped breastfeeding, though I can’t think that had anything to do with it 🤷‍♀️ it’s weird thinking back how debilitating those few months were and how quickly I’ve forgotten how bad it all was!

@MalFunkshun ah, that’s great - thank you for replying. I have something slightly different going on plus very tight hamstrings so encouraging to hear that pregnancy can wreck the body for sometime!
