I was dumbstruck by the prezzies my hubby's aunt and uncle got us - the massive packet, among other stuff, included a pair of boxers and socks for him and a pack of cheapy knickers and tights for me!! They're nice people but they've only met me twice (including on my wedding day)! And DH prob only talks to them once a year! I don't even wear tights! And I get my underwear from figleaves and becheeky thank you! Very random

Also, DS got some red long-johns with a hearts pattern and a top with 'mummy's sweetheart' in pink on it. We've no idea who that's from as it was unsigned. Well. I would like no.2 to be a girl but we've got long to go till no.2 yet!

I know socks are prob the no.1 I wish I never got THAT present but I don't remember EVER getting knicks even from my mum! Haven't bothered my arse to even check whether they're the right size

What was the weirdest thing you got?

I think mine is pretty random - certainly wasn't on my radar of expected presents - a water pump for the water feature that was in the garden here when we moved in.

Just weird.

Yikes, is bluetack really poisonous?! He's so happy with it...

I'm pondering why DH gave me a pair of speakers, given that a) we already have some and b) we have a laptop and a wireless connection .

tasjaSAmuminSA · 27/12/2009 10:15

cake forks from MIL - who else - I've got alot of them, why do I need more? Went to exchange them for lovely body lotion that I need.

AngelaChase · 27/12/2009 16:14

tasjaSAmuminSA - where did your MIL find the cake forks? (nosy)

wigglybeezer · 27/12/2009 16:31

My Dh would be jealous of Gentle Otter, he was a bit sad that i didn't get him an axe (I got him one a few years ago but he wants to up-grade to a fancier one!).

I didn't get any random pressies because I ordered most of mine myself, although the large bottle of gin from Dsis was a bit random (I must have seemd like someone who needed a stiff drink befire xmas).

Creme don't think blutac is any more poisonous than say prittstick - it's not like you're not gonna let your child glue anything ever again! If they're big enough to know not to eat it, they'll be fine. It's just that schools are totally paranoid with their health and safety. The whole world is poisonous and dangerous if you listen to what they say. I once heard a nursery nurse tell a bunch of 4-y.olds to never, never, never attempt to make tea themselves because they might get scolded. Surely that's something for their parents to teach them to do? Otherwise how are they ever gonna learn to do anything themselves?

Phew, thanks. He's used it to suspend flying lego models from the underside of a shelf . Given the number of sweeties wrappers I also found stuffed there, I don't think he's bothered eating the blutac!

just1moreplease · 29/12/2009 22:28

my mum got me and dp a hoover and a night of ghost hunting.

we were very pleased with the hoover at least

TheYearOfTheCat · 29/12/2009 22:37

Santa brought my DC calendars from our local chinese restaurant. They love them.

My DH bought my a circular power saw for our first Christmas together.

Takver · 30/12/2009 21:00

DH from his parents: his college graduation photograph (from 17 yrs ago) - huge thing with the whole year in it, long since abandoned in their attic - specially framed up to hang on the wall. . .
They did give him a very nice other present too, though, and were clearly trying hard to hit the spot with non - materialistic - but - thoughtful so have to be forgiven one dud!
I would be very happy with an axe, a woman can never have too many good axes IMO.

DaftApeth · 30/12/2009 21:19

Ds got a red plastic A4 folder from mil

Luckily the £20 inside went down well (didn't tell ds that she had to get it from dh though!)

The folder was obviously something she happened to have in her bag when she visited us.

Dd was given a barbie from her which was exactly what she wanted.
