How do I do it with a stack of dinner plates? I heard something about a drop of water on each?

When I tried it, it overheated the microwave and it wouldn't work for days on end.

merlin · 23/12/2009 18:52

Oh blimey don't want that to happen!

I always leave my plates to warm through in the grill section of my oven. Don't actually switch it on but the heat from the oven beneath and beside makes it warm enough

I wipe a small amount of water over each plate and then put in for about 2 mins for 4 (we have quite thick plates though). Don;t try with any plates with gold trim though

I do it with a splash of water on each one, no m/w problems so far.

If it helps, since the disablement of the microwave, as I don't want it to die forever, I have put the plates in the bottom of the oven for about 30 mins before plating up. I sort of shuffle them to make sure that they are heated equally.

I used to do the drop of water but found it makes no difference. Just did 6 dinner plates for 2 min in an E rating microwave. War but not boiling hot. REally hot is 3 mins.

I heat the milk for latte coffee in the cup several times every day in the microwave too.

Thanks all!

Will have to give it a go because if the repair man can't fix my big oven tomorrow (thermostat gone tonight!) I have to manage with the small oven/grill!!!

Oh Happy Christmas!!

Rinse the plates in hot water and leave to dry.

MrsBadger · 23/12/2009 19:13

I warm mine in a sink of hot water (get someone else to dry them up) as the microwave inevitably has veg in

TabithaTwitchet · 23/12/2009 19:17

I boil a kettle, put the plates in washing up bowl and pour the boiling water over. Don't try taking them out with bare hands though!

Am with the people who use a sink full of hot water. Again because the microwave and oven are usually crammed with food
