I've just started the hell that is wrapping a mountain of presents and have been almost moved to tears (ok not really) by the incredible discovery that Whsmith wrapping paper has a grid printed on the reverse side so you can cut it evenly!

Why doesn't everyone do this? Genius!

but isn't WHSmiths paper 3 times more expensive than anyone elses?

I will just continue to buy cheap and hack away merrily and crookedly

Picante · 14/12/2009 15:04

Just be glad mulledfruit that you don't have a 3 year old who insists on wrapping all the presents himself.

Adair · 14/12/2009 15:15

ooh 3 year old wrapping is good! In fact, I often overplay dd's involvement in the wrapping process (gives me good excuse when I hand over a pile of hacked and sellotaped mess like this)

mulledfruitshootandcheese · 14/12/2009 15:17

can never get the presents open if the children wrap them, they use more sellotape than paper!

Err no idea if it's pricey - it was 3 for 2 so I think I got 6 rolls for 8 quid.

Worth it for the ease of wrapping I think!

ooh sounds slightly obsessive

My super-cheap Aldi paper has grids on this year - I said exactly the same thing. Makes wrapping even more satisfying to the control freak in me!

DaftApeth · 14/12/2009 16:09

I don't mind a slightly wonky line on my wrapping paper.

My greatest find a few years ago was one of these tape dispensers. Makes the tape more expensive but saves loads of time and effort struggling with holding down the scrunched up beautifully folded edges whilst juggling scissors and sellotape.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 14/12/2009 16:27

But wrapping paper with a grid on the back and ready cut sellotape would leave me with virtually no excuses for my appalling wrapping

Bigbadmummy · 14/12/2009 16:57

Score paper so you get a really good crease, and then fold it over and run a ruler through it... cuts it much more quickly.

Boots used to have the grids quite a few years ago but I have noticed they stopped doing it
