Changing /cancelling Debenhams Order - Beware

I wasnt sure where to post this & ended up here. I just wanted to warn people to be careful when ordering from Debenhams online. If you make a mistake with the order you are unable to amend it & have ONLY 1/2hr to cancel this!!!!

I am normally very careful, but last night I somehow managed to order my delivery to be sent to my old address. I didn't realise the customer service was open to 10pm & when I rang this morning they told me about the 1/2hr window period. So my delivery will go to my old address & hopefully the people will refuse delivery & send it back & then maybe I'll get my money back.

I realise this is my silly error, but didn't want it to happen to anyone else

I had this exact problem. It went to my old address last week and someone with a weird name signed for it. I called them up and told them that nobody at that address had that name (as I know the people who bought my old house). They refunded my order and had it sent to my current address. They were very good about it and said the driver (think it was Lynx) should not have left it without the correct surname being signed.

Took a few days to sort out, and a lot of waiting on the phone but it was worth it.

Hope you have the same luck.

Plus the address is not immediately apparent on the Debenhams site, mine just said "home" and that's why I never realised until the order confirmation came thru by email that it went to my old address.

Plus, just wanted to say that whoever did sign for my parcel never returned the goods to them.

I've done this, very very annoying. They don't make it clear at all where it's going, and I had tried to change my address but it had only changed the billing address not the delivery address.

Not very good customer service at all, especially when you can order online 24/7 btu the phone lines are only open til 10.

The only problem with the correct surname being signed though is that me and DP aren't married, so don't have same surname (although both our names are on the door!).

I had this problem with ebay actually, 2 sellers somehow managed to send to my old address, even though the address change had gone through my end! Luckily, me old address is my parents, albeit 425 miles away!

never realised about the surname thing

as a nanny i sign for loads for my bosses... my surname is not the same as theirs and in 9 years it has never been questioned.

also my Bosses who were Drs had diff surnames (well MB used her married AND maiden name) so quite often they would sign for each others stuff and still have a doff surname.
my other old boss (married) has a diff surname to her husband and they dont have problems either

Marks and Spencer did this to me a few months ago - I was certain I'd changed the address but as someone said it must have just eben the billing address, because it somehow defaulted to my old delivery address.

It was delayed by 10 days despite being a 'chosen day' order, because of no stock then a further 10 days later I realised I still didn't have it.

I should have checked the confirmation email in hindsight - it had gone to the old address. M&S were AWFUL. They had no tracking for the parcel which is a crappy idea in any case, had no idea where it was, if it had been signed for or not, and would do nothing to help. That was it.

So I tried the sorting office and thankfully they had still got it. M&S said it MIGHT have been returned to them after 3 weeks, but no guarantees. FFS if I am paying whatever amount for delivery I expect them to track the parcels. How can anyone prove what happened to a lost one if not?

Having nearly the exact same problem, except it was their fault, ordered dining table and chairs, I changed my address, they somehow still managed to send it to our old house, this was over a month ago, I now have the table, but no chairs. They even told me the department that deals with address changes mid-order weren't in on Fridays so I had to ring back on Monday! What sort of company has a department solely for handling changes of address?

And not once have they apologised. And not once have they rang me back when they said they would. They are rude, have a 'can't be bothered' attitude to everything, had one bloke coughing and snorting in my ear with no excuse me's or sorry's.

Never again will I order from them! Ever.
