Those of you who freeze stuffing ...

Can I ask - do you cook it and then freeze it or freeze it uncooked? If uncooked, is it OK to defrost it, then make into balls?

I'd like to make some stuffing balls, alongside stuffing in the turkey and keep seeing tasty recipes online, but am keen to freeze it in advance, so I don't have to bother on the day.

I haven't made or frozen stuffing before, so any tips appreciated - thanks!

I never stuff my turkey. I always make separate stuffing balls & then freeze, uncooked, already in balls. I take them out of the freezer on Christmas Eve before I go to bed (along with the bread sauce, cranberry sauce, & sausagemeat & bacon rounds). Hope that helps.

I used to make them into balls then freeze. I used to cheat and buy several of the flavoured ones from Waitrose, mix in some breadcrumbs (to lighten as I dont like all sausagemeat) and use half the pack to roll into balls the other half I layered into a loaf tin to eat in between Christmas and New Year

thanks so much for posting - that does help thank you. i'd much rather cook and freeze in advance, rather than cook it all christmas eve! was planning on making cranberry sauce too, so will make and freeze that too.

thank you!
