Have done most of my Xmas shopping but do not have a clue what to buy MIL. She is in her late 60s and likes most things. Budget is around £30. Would ideally like to but online as not easy to get into a big town with lots of choice

If you were my DIL, I'd say Amazon vouchers.

I'd get your DH to sort it out, as he probably knows her better

Have posted this before, but MIL's favourite present ever was the personalised knitting bag we got her. A lady on ebay makes them, they're lovely chunky cord, I got MIL the bright red colour, and the lady embroidered on "Nana Joan's Knitting" I think they're only about £10 - £15.

Another good idea is [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dear-Grandma-Journal-Lifetime-Journals/dp/1907048022/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=b ooks&qid=1260216532&sr=8-6 this] book, though again, it's more of a 'from the kids' type present.

More expensive but is for MIL and FIL, but have just ordered Champagne tea on Britannia for them, the site does have less expensive gifts.

I was given cream tea for two by one of my mindees one Christmas, DDIL and I had great fun dressing posh and having it at a posh sea front hotel.
