I don't want to duplicate...but I can't see one. I'm sitting at the computer working out what we'll eat when. We have far too many visitors this year...(love it really) so I've started my "little list" (as dh calls it)of things to do, things to buy, things to cook...but need inspiration...

I have a grown-up DD who is coming to us with her DH, DS and baby DD on The Day. I also have a teenage DD and young DS and DD close in age to the GCs. Big DD will be going to her ILs for New Year, when her MIL will re-do Christmas.
I am reluctant to do a traditional meal that they will have to eat all over again a week later, so here goes -
Roast ostrich, roast potatoes, butternut squash, sweet potatoes and shallots; carrots, peas, broccoli in cheese sauce; veloute sauce made with the marinade from the ostrich. A variety of mustards and rowanberry jelly to accompany.
Blueberry cheesecake and/or chocolate mousse for pud. We are greedy sods so will probably eat both puds.
Off to grown-up DDs on Boxing Day. She is hoping to do a warm/hot buffet. She is a great cook and we are looking forward to it.
To take a step backwards, I do a cold buffet on Christmas Eve - the DCs love the "help yourself" thing.
Three days of gorging is always enough for us, so back to normal after Boxing Day. However, have planned roast kid (goat, not child) for New Years' Day.

gosh, that sounds like a feast and a half!!

pierogi and borscht on christmas eve.

Christmas day:
cinnamon rolls (homemade) for brekkers.

usual turkey, sprouts, parsnips, carrots, potatoes, chipolatas, stuffing with christmas pudding for afters.

Boxing day: ham, homemade chips, pickles and leftovers. Trifle for afters.

Rest of week leftovers.

I'm working Christmas Eve so it'll be snacks etc and probably be Jacket Pots.

Christmas day it's just DH & I & DC's so have snacks/buffet/party food all day for a change.

Then on Boxing day my mum, gran adn godparents will join us so it'll be
Canapes and cocktails to start
Roast turkey, Roast pots and parsnip, carrots and brussels sprouts, Hasselback Potatoes, 2 x stuffings, mustard yorkshires, gravy and cranberry sauce oh and probably peas and broccoli to.
Then Christmas pud & brandy butter

Tea time will be - mince pies, christmas snowman cake and sandwiches. Possibly tiramisu or trifle.

Then back to work on the sunday feeling very full.

that does sound amazing. I'm going to start another thread under food - I think my title is rubbish and hasn;t caught anyone's eye (or maybe I'm too early) I just remember some really mouth-watering ones last year.

new thread here

Thought you might like this one from last year, hatwoman. I have it saved and the title always cracks me up
