Blue Christmas (Lights)

Am I the only person who thinks that they don't look Christmas-like?

I rejected a set of LED lights earlier because blue was incorporated and went for bulbs which DS will no doubt eat / crush because the colours were more traditional. I've always had simple white lights but this year I'm yearning for the tree of my childhood which seemed to be lit by Quality Street chocolates

Lots of people where I live have electric-blue lights on their houses.

To me, that colour reminds me of hi-tech stuff. Remember when blue rather than green LED displays were the thing to have? I was very proud of my blue-screen Nokia at the time but it just isn't festive somehow.

That isn't to say that a complete blue Christmas can't be striking. Or an emerald-green one. With silver ooh, but we'd have to redecorate...

Do you agree and what are your colour preferences?

WethreeNinks , Blue is not colour of christmas.
My usually tasteful neighbours have a blanket of blue lights flashing away .
We love white or coloured fairy lights dotted amongst our topiary.
We will be putting up our decorations next week.

Sorry WeThreeNinks!

I want our apple tree lit too YouLuka, but it's not much more than a twig at the mo.

Blue lights are beautiful, but they're just not quite right, IMO.

White, Youluka!

I have to admit I used to live near someone who had a weeping cherry whose branches were covered in blue lights and it looked stunning.

I like white though!

Wethreeninks, coz I gave Youlukaamazing all the props for the phrase "Quality Street Lights".

I have come to the conclusion that my childhood Christmas Tree was thus because my parents could not afford anything else for it other than the coloured lights. And they were Quality Street jewel-coloured.

That's why I can't recall the tinsel or lights but the baubles I remember being brought out every year. They were massively egg-shell- fragile and dangerous, but wonderful!

Toilet-roll Santas! Please enlighten.

When I was growing up all the baubles were different. I don't know why, but they were and they were brought out every year. Maybe it was the fashion in the seventies to have non-matching decs.

My HV is coming on the 14th to visit so I'm getting a leetle bit paranoid
