am going through finances with dh and he was to learn I have spent £300 on presents for the kids, we have 2 so is roughly £150 each, this includes all presents from 'santa' and under tree presents from us. this will be it now though!

Does this sound v excessive to you? How much do you roughly spend per dc?

We spent £15 at a car boot sale - and bought three bin liners full of really great stuff including a JD Bug balance bike in immaculate condition for £2.50, battery operated big Tonka trucks for £1 each (2), loads of new puzzles (all complete and again almost new condition), a motorised dinosaur thingy, an ELC fireman's outfit with accessories... the list goes on.
DS2 (2.5) will also be getting a new, still in the box Wheelybug ladybird that I got on eBay for £19.
Recycling at its very best!

Our 3 are getting a Wii finally this year - we got it on eBay in September for £200 and it came with loads of nunchucks, steering wheels, and 8 games, including MarioKarts and Lego Star Wars.

It'll cost me about £25 to fill a stocking for each of them, and we always buy them a lovely book from "Mum and Dad" rather than Santa.

So that means about £100 each.

Dh and I fill a stocking for each other - we each have £50 to spend. We have to get it as close to £50 as possible - last year I had 2 shiny 1p pieces in the bottom of mine to make it exact!

Budget is £50 per child (have 3) for a main pressie and then a stocking with bits prob £20 each maybe.....

Eve4Walle · 04/12/2009 09:22

About £65-70 each at the moment. I have a an almost 2 year old and a six year old.

Maybe will get a few more bits for their stockings but that's it.

DD had her birthday not long ago so there wasn't much she wanted. DS's brithday is at the end of January so I need to keep something back for then too!

Asking how much to spend is a real "how long is a piece of string?" type question.

We've spent about £75 on each of our DDs (2 and 4.5). I think its quite a lot, although it includes absolutely everything.

Also, lovely though our extended family are - they don't give the kids much for Christmas. Both sets of grandparents are the "here's a hat I knitted for you" types and last year auntie managed to produce an eggcup. Whoopdy-doo.

So we spent a bit more on the kids cos, tbh they don't get any loot from anywhere else!

Less than £50 each hopefully. They are 16 14, 12 and 3 months. The 3 mth old will probably get nothing, or something v small.

I have 3 and spend £200 each on them, luck things!

Oh dear, this thread reminds me of my darling mother who set a target amount for each child & would buy 'little extras' just to make sure she spent the exact amount on each of us and nobody could say "he's got more than me!"

Must treat all children equal!!! LOL
