WWYD - DS getting tiny present DD getting huge box - how to handle the possible fallout.

DS who is 8, is getting a Nintendo DSi (preowned) and a game.
DD who is 5, is getting a load of Go Go Hamsters and accessories.
We have spent about the same on each child.

BUT DS is going to see this tiny parcel or two under the tree, while DD is either going to see a huge box or 8 parcels (all bigger than DS's).
Christmas will be at my parents and what we have always done is handed out the presents so we have one each (this is now the responsibility of DS & DD), open the present, admire and say thank you. So the size/number of presents cannot easily be hidden.

I obviously cannot prepare DS in advance so that he knows that DD's are cheaper so that is why it looks like she has more. He will not have a strop about it, but it is that wobbly bottom lip I am worried about.

Any bright ideas how I can make DS's present look more exciting.

Just to make things worse DH's present will also be in a huge box. No idea how we will fit everything into the car!

Any suggestions welcome - but not ones that involve spending lots of money

We had a similar thing happen. they were presents from grandparents so Grandad collected various size boxes. He wrapped them all individually and put them inside each other and eventually the last box to open was the present.
Was great fun

Teamcullen's idea is fab on so many levels. Am I the only person who unpacks toys before wrapping them? Who can be bothered to spend christmas morning making your fingers sore trying to get off tiny plastic ties and getting into boxes? Also you get to check it all works, out batteries in etc.

Teamcullen's suggestion is great - it's like, the wisdom of Solomon

Teamcullens suggestion or wrap all the ds stuff separately - ds, spare stylus, batteries, game etc in big boxes.
Also make sure ds opens his before dd so he'll be engrossed with his pressies he won't be bothered with dd's
