For me 22 people and £600 to £700

OP posts:
cherrymonster · 29/11/2009 20:19

12 people. no set budget really

ilovetochat · 29/11/2009 20:22

18 people £230

petitmaman · 29/11/2009 20:24

11 people. about £200 (including dcs)

MrsMattie · 29/11/2009 20:26

4 adults - combined budget of £50
14 kids - budget of £5-£10 each maximum, and will spend less if I can.

allaboutme · 29/11/2009 20:29

DH -budget £100
2 DCs - budget £100 each
5 nieces and nephews (we only buy for children at xmas in my family) - £20-£30 each

ilovepiccolina · 29/11/2009 20:29

Flippin' eck, 22 people? Really? At £30 average each?

Can't you just send cards?

maxpower · 29/11/2009 20:32

DH's family - 4 Adults (about £50 each) 2 babies (about £30 each)
My family - there are 8 adults but this year we've done a secret santa thing so we only have to but one present for £50. 2 children (about £30 each).
DH and I have set a budget of £150 for each of us.
DD probably £150
3 other children of good friends, probably £15 each

Oh god, that looks like a lot of money when it's written down....

busybutterfly · 29/11/2009 20:39

12 in family - £150 max
8 other children - £80 max

(We don't buy anything for our DC's as they get loads from family/friends.)

bigchris · 29/11/2009 20:42

7 kids - tenner each

my parents - £20 each

inlaws - dunno, dh deals with

then just my two and dh - varies each year

PfftTheMagicDragon · 29/11/2009 20:47

5 adults
7 children

all adults are close relatives so £30 each maybe - we don't buy for adults who are not immediate family, only children

£20 limit on children. Usually less.

I tend to go for the right present rather than the right price, so sometimes I spend more and sometimes less.

Fleecy · 29/11/2009 20:49

£20ish each for close family, nice wine bought on offer for other adults or chocs/small toy for children.

DH and I don't usually get each other anything. We spend around £50-70 each on DD and DS.

FourArms · 29/11/2009 20:50

Bit scared to work this out...

Parents and in-laws - 4
Sisters - 2
BIL - 1
Husband - 1
Me! (have bought several presents for myself!) - 1
DSs - 2
Friend's DS - 1
Aunts & Uncles (joint gift)- 4
Cousins & Partners (joint gift) - 5
Children of cousins - 3

So in total - 18 adults and 6 children

Budgets ???? Try to buy presents of same value for all parents/PIL, and for both sisters. I suppose that totals about £300. I probably spend another £200 on me and DH. I spend varying amounts on my DSs, depending upon what they want/need. I'd imagine Christmas probably costs in the region of £1000 including food.

Earthstar · 29/11/2009 20:53

Am Very suprised that so far I am at the high end of number to buy for and amount spent! Mine includes two secret Santas at work, teachers present, family incl dp and dd, parents, aunts and uncles, godchildren and 4 friends.

frazzled74 · 29/11/2009 20:56

25 people, ranging from £5 - £25 each.
3 dcs -have prob spent £500 but that is inc £200 for laptop for ds1 which he really needs for school and would have bought him anyway.(making myself feel better)
and dh, £20

waterbabyabroad · 29/11/2009 21:03

Yikes. Quite scary to put down in writing. 26 people and when all done and dusted will probably have spent somewhere in the region of 1500 quid. Think next year we will start talking budgets...

Hulababy · 29/11/2009 21:06

25 to buy for this year.

Budget varies but nothing set in stone. Ranged from £5 to £40 this year, not including DH and DD.

cherrymonster · 29/11/2009 21:14

well my list of who to buy for comprises of-
my 4 dc's
my brother and sister (who dont have kids)
my mum and dad (seperate presents- they are together but both have different interests)
my nan
my 3 closest friends.

i spend £100-£150 each on my dc's
about £20-£30 each on db and dsis
about the same each on mum and dad
nan will have a framed pic of the dc's and a cd
my friends, one will get a teddy, one will get a posh mug filled with chocs, and other will get posh mug filled with chocs, and a necklace (she has been very good to me this year)

Portofino · 29/11/2009 21:17

Um dd - limit of 200 euros!
3 nephews x 20 quid
GPs - £30 - prob a M&S hamper
Dad - £30 he wants some Family tree software
BIL & SIL - £40 (flowers and alcohol via interflora)
Various friends dcs - maybe another £100.

We will do St Nicolas with dd next weekend, and then go away for Xmas. Agreement with Dsis that we don't do adult pressies.

No presents to each other this year but we will probably buy a Wii for Xmas. Looking currently for the best bargain.

Wineonafridaynight · 29/11/2009 21:26

Well we have had to cut back this year - usually spend £30/person for family and there are 14 of them!

This year we are making homemade hampers and adding a few additional bits in and are expecting to spend about £20/person.

So that's £280 in total. On top of that we will spend about £50 on each other each which brings it up to £380.

We have cut out friends this year to save cash and have agreed we will just go out for an evening instead as at least then we all get to spend time together instead of spending money and notseeing each other!

If you add in Christmas treats for people at work (tin of roses and the like!) plus Christmas cards and wrapping paper, it'll probably bring it to about £410.

MrsJohnDeere · 29/11/2009 21:27

No set budget. Just get what seems appropriate for the person.

8 adults (excluding dh) £10-£20 each
4 children (excluding my own) £15 each
dh have spent about £200
dcs will spend about £150

waitingforbedtime · 29/11/2009 21:27

1 dc
1 dh (!)
1 niece
1 nephew
4 other kids
in laws
brother
my parents
aunty
dh aunty
ds godmother

approx £400

TinyPawz · 29/11/2009 23:10

22, 11 adults & 11 kids

about £550-600 less if I can

Clary · 30/11/2009 01:28

19 people. About half of them come from DH.

Plus teachers, Brownie leaders etc. Also neighbours. If I included all of them it would be about 30 people.

Total budget I have never calculated maybe about £300 on family (ie DH and DCs) and then max of £10 for others, about £5 for teachers/neighbours etc so total about £500.

Also have come in under that this year thanks to some credit-crunch-tastic deals.

Gosh, reading thread I have a lot of people! And I don't get anything for friends, or friends' kids; that's all family people or the occasional godchild (apart from teachers etc - I am not related to them ).

BlackLetterDay · 30/11/2009 01:51

Well to be unusual I only buy for my dc's and one niece and nephew.

May buy my sis a present as she is coming to visit.

So total, erm god knows, my dc's do get a lot as family is thin on the ground.
