Dps best mate and new wife (very good pals) have invited us to spend Xmas with them.

I am loathed to buy yet another picture frame, yet cannot think of anything that will make them say "blimey- glad we invited those lot to stay- look at our delightful gift" or words to that effect.

any suggestions??

Need more details.

Budget?

Do they live in city, country, suburbs? House or flat?

What do they enjoy doing?

tiredemma · 26/11/2009 13:46

budget about £50
They live in a house in suburbia

They like travel, wine, eating out, most things tbh- they are generally happy go lucky.
They got married in June (not sure why m adding that nugget of info in)

Foods and alcohols?
I know it sounds boring - but it'll mean the visit shouldn't cost them.

Nice chess or backgammon set? Maybe one that comes in a case?

Birdfeeder and seed, and/or birdbath

Orchid in beautiful ceramic pot (maybe one you've made/decorated yourself at a pottery cafe)

Pottery Cafe theme - platter, salad bowl, set of soup/cereal bowls, etc designed and decorated by you/dp

Selection of really delicious cheese

Some really beautiful Christmas decorations for home and/or tree that will be used every year and remind them of you/dp

Earlybird · 26/11/2009 14:04

selection of yummy/unusual coffee and/or tea and mugs

Beautiful teapot, tea and mugs

Hugely indulgent gourmet chocolate from a place like this:

Any of the above accompanied by a customised cd of Christmas/holiday music selected/compiled by you with their musical tastes in mind.

luxury things from the white company - even nice hand cream and sopa dispenser type thingy, good wine, some treat food items or a voucher for their favourite restauarant for when you've gone!

Hamper full of luxury food....e.g.side of smoked salmon, various chutneys, chocs, a couple of great bottles of wine, coffee, etc

Or pay for the turkey, which, if you get a 5kg free range bronze ebird, wil set you back about £60. Quite a nice contribution if you ask me!

Going to have a good look.

PMSL @ 'energyconnect' s blatant advertising. I dont think thats allowed!!!

Thansk everyone.

I went to the Good Food Show at the NEC yesterday and apart from drinking my own bodyweight in various alcohols, I also manaed to buy them some bits and bobs that I wouldnt normally have found in normal shops.

Many thanks x
