It is for dd1 (6) and dd2 (2). Does anyone have any recommendations?

We got a wooden one from ELC, I prefer wooden toys to plastic as they tend not to have batteries. DD loves playing with it as does her brother.

LostGirl · 16/11/2009 13:49

THanks, can I ask how long it took to assemble??

We have the ELC wooden kitchen, and taking into account DH's muttering and bad mood I would say that it was a pita to assemble!
Top tip, DO NOT leave it until Xmas Eve to assemble it.

LostGirl · 16/11/2009 13:53

We would have to, there is no way we could hide it in our tiny house fully assembled! Surely it can't be worse than the playmobil hosipital which took the pair of us a good hour and a half??!

My MIL has bought DD1 this kitchen

and it's on sale

Probably 45 min max and we did it on Christmas Eve. It was fine. I could have done it on my own.

Little tikes are fab - last for ever - can buy new or on ebay second hand.

I got DD a country kitchen - big, with cooker, microwave, fridge, dish washer, sink etc for £30.

LostGirl · 17/11/2009 13:43

Have been looking on ebay, but of course they are all 'collection only' and nothing has come up locally unfortunately. Little Tikes definitely look more solid than some of the other plastic kitchens.

Wooden every time (but then I'm biased as I am a wooden toy distributor!)

We got our DS one of these last Christmas - ignore the reviews about quality, ours has not chipped or broken AT ALL in the last twelve months and was simple to assemble.

LostGirl · 17/11/2009 13:57

I love that one, and dd2 was playing with it in a shop the other day, however it is really dd1 (6) who wants it so really need something bigger that they can both play with at the same time. Good to hear a positive review of Le Toy Van though, have been put off buying anything from them having read so much negative stuff.

Hi, I bought this one for my DDs the same age as yours. They love it.

www.letterbox.co.uk/find/keyword-is-kitchen/product-is-11679/pgs-is-16

Its quite compact and when not in use can be pushed against a wall to make more room. It took me (on my own) about 15-20 mins to put together as most of it is assembled when it arrives.

Letterbox are always doing discount codes so order it when you have one I saved 20%.

Ikea does a lovely wooden kitchen for around £60. I think it's called Duktig and you can get a microwave add-on bit to go on the top. Not too difficult to assemble, doesn't occupy too much space and looks quite nice.

DD (3yo) loves it!

LostGirl · 17/11/2009 14:06

Thanks everyone, now just need to decide!

TopSop, I was looking at that Honeybake kitchen for my Dd, but it looks tiny going by the dimensions.
Is it?
The pictures I've seen of it with a child are definately photoshopped to make it look bigger.

I agree about Little Tikes - fab quality.

LostGirl · 17/11/2009 14:24

When dd was playing with the Honeybake one it was the perfect height for her, but she is a tall 18mths.

DH and I are making one based on this for DD for Christmas. Can't wait, but we really must get started - eek!

TopSop · 17/11/2009 14:50

It is small but perfectly formed! My DS is 3.5 and likes to sit/kneel and pretend to cook. My six year old niece also loves playing with it, as do the 6 and 9 year old girls from next door - I think the fact that it's quite diddy and neat makes it endearing.

If you want a bigger/taller one have a look here or here - this is my supplier so I can vouch for the toys and the service!

stealthsquiggle · 17/11/2009 14:56

We have the same one as handbagqueen and it's fab - compact, durable, loads of play value - DD(3) and DS(7) play together with it almost every day.

NellieTheEllie · 17/11/2009 19:41

thank you LostGirl and TopSop Will look at those you've linked to TopSop.

posieparker · 17/11/2009 19:42

gltc.co.uk lovely kitchen, wooden.

VerityBrulee · 17/11/2009 19:47

We got dd the honeybake oven and baking set and she adores them, the baking set is particularly fab, we have many, many tea parties in this house.

Highly recommended

monkeysmama · 18/11/2009 10:39

Just ordered this one for dd (18mo). Got some lovely wooden pans and cooking utensils for £2 from Wilkinsons!
