I need ideas of one gift that they can share or all enjoy.

Limited budget of course.

TIA

What's the budget?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 15/11/2009 22:24

i usually spend around £10-15 each. but i'd hope a joing gift would be less - kind of the reason.
also they have so much stuff already.
i'm sure they have jenga.
they really don't need anything.

We were given a popcorn maker one Christmas - the one that looks like a duck!
it is still very popular and comes out on our film nights and sleepovers - the kids love it.
I just wish I could make topping like butterkist!! Must keep trying..
Hope that helps

nevergoogledragonbutter · 15/11/2009 22:31

i thought i was being so clever with Jenga!!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 22:36

Twister?

Triggerfish, I have a toffee popcorn recipe that works very well (although you'll need more than your duck). Hang on a mo and I'll post it.

triggerfish · 15/11/2009 22:36

What about personalised jigsaw - map of where they live, or a picture of them all doing something daft - not suggesting they are daft you understand!!
good to see you too db!

nevergoogledragonbutter · 15/11/2009 22:38

oooh, a personalised jigsaw is a fab idea.

i have a good picture of them all i could get done.

i thought of you the other day when i saw a tin of syrup.

A box of craft materials - paper, pens, stencils, glitter etc etc that they can all get stuck into

triggerfish · 15/11/2009 22:39

oh, why did i just sneak a peek on mumsnet - I am supposed to be tidying the house before dh returns home with ds2. They will return home any minute and will find I have done very little!!
Oh well, I guess I wont get much done so I just as well crack open the sloe gin - anybody fancy joining me?

MakemineaGandT · 15/11/2009 22:41

ha ha!!! I just read my post and now have a vision of 4 children covered in glue and craft materials....I probably should have put it a bit differently but you know what I meant....

triggerfish · 15/11/2009 22:41

Yeah I bet you did db!!
We will have the last laugh when you open your present from us!!!
Where will you be for christmas? If you are with inlaws, will you be able to meet up?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 22:42

Toffee popcorn

Yield: 20 servings (really. I made half this quantity and that was a LOT)
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Total time: 90 minutes

250g butter
450g dark brown soft sugar
8 tablespoons golden syrup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
250g popped popcorn

Preheat oven to 120 C. Place popcorn in a very large bowl (again, if you are making the full quantity it will need to be a CHUFFING HUGE bowl. I needed my biggest mixing bowl for half quantity).

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, golden syrup and salt. Bring to the boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in bicarb and vanilla. Pour in a thin stream over popcorn, stirring to coat.

Place in two large shallow baking dishes and bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Great toffee popcorn for any occasion. If you like chewy popcorn, bake less.
