I would love that butterfly dressing table

DS2 wants a Tardis, a real one. Nothing else will do.

TrinityHasAVampireRhino · 14/11/2009 20:22

i want a wanky basket

thats what you used to call them isn't it???

can you explain it a bit

are mine too old

is it really just safe 'non-toys'

Adair · 14/11/2009 20:27

thought it was 'wnaky basket' - coined by oh, I don't know

I love those boxes too, and am getting them for me dd.

(It's me, umlellala btw)

FrannyandZooey · 14/11/2009 20:28

hi trinity

they all love them, all ages - there isn't an age that's too old
it's different shapes and sounds and smells and textures
not plastic ideally - plastic things all smell and feel the same
you can have shells and pinecones and bits of lovely fabric, different kinds of brushes, little tins and boxes, ornaments, bells, necklaces, cinnamon sticks, corks, etc etc etc
you can get really creative with it and it's a fabulous tool for open ended play for older children
very calming also IME as they enjoy the different sensory experiences

hello umlellala! oh lots of friendly people
i thought you had all gone and been replaced by a load of scary hard faced women who would sneer at me

chegirl good luck with that one!

OH I'd love to do DS a wnaky basket (he's 18mo - is that a good age?)

Always meant to do one for DD when she was wee but never managed to find the stuff (other than buying it all new which seemed £££)

princessmel · 14/11/2009 20:31

Hi F+Z

Just wanted to say hello
(not 'seen' you for ages)

I'd love a wanky basket for 3 week old ds2

princessmel · 14/11/2009 20:31

Or dd (4) or ds1 (6) lol

doggiesayswoof · 14/11/2009 20:32

x-posts with Franny's post about ages

Maybe should still do one for both DCs then.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2009 20:33

Hello there - not seen you for yonks.
How is your lovely family?

FrannyandZooey · 14/11/2009 20:36

doggie he is technically too old but IME they love them
for a toddler you may like to think about objects that they can 'do' things with, rather than just textures etc
ie boxes and so on to post things in, tubes to roll, things to stack and fill and sort and spin

hi princessmel! congratulations
listen i won't go on about it but if anyone seriously wants to buy one, CAT me
they are not cheap mind
but cheaper than elsewhere on internet and they are ruddy nice too - state of the art treasure baskets

otherwise i am happy to give info for free, you can easily make them yourself, it is just a bit time consuming really

FrannyandZooey · 14/11/2009 20:37

hello CSWS! we are doing fine (apart from coveting pink tat obviously)
how about you?

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2009 20:40

I'm good thanks, though permanently knackered at the moment, as pregnant again - only 7 or 8 weeks (have only come out tonight on MN in fact!). Am still feeding 3.9 yr old dd and 13 month old ds (who doesn't yet sleep through, though seems to be getting close) too, so not surprising that I'm tired really!

FrannyandZooey · 14/11/2009 20:42

oh flipping heck congratulations there! my god has anyone ever triple fed???

OP posts:
misdee · 14/11/2009 20:44

oh franny, just the person.

what do i need for one of those baskets.

dd4 has a fascination with anything in baskets, boxes etc.

misdee · 14/11/2009 20:45

oooo congrats csws.

Pannacotta · 14/11/2009 20:48

Franny your DS1 is a hoot, will never forget the clay cock thread....

I agree that a home-made version of the dressing table could be fun.

My DS1 (nearly 5) is also into kitch, ie ABBA CDs, so that is what he getting for Christmas...

misdee · 14/11/2009 20:49

oh, if u're selling them...

FrannyandZooey · 14/11/2009 20:51

pannacotta ds1 is a big beegees fan

misdee hello, there is no need to buy one if you feel inclined to make one yourself, i am happy to help

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2009 20:53

Cheesemonster considered it, but she hasn't posted since she had her third, so don't know if either of her others gave up first or not.
And I have a friend from lll who was pregnant whilst tandem feeding, but the older one (a month short of 5 at the time) gave up when she was about 22 weeks. Am hoping that dd will stop tbh. She only has it in the mornings now, but is already looking forward to it when she goes to bed at night!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2009 20:53

Thanks misdee.

JesusChristOtterStar · 14/11/2009 20:56

lol Franny

I am convinced your ds and mine - turns 7 in january would get along swimmingly

DS wa in M&S this afternoon and i said 'R would you like this' to a full length sequined dress. His response broke my heart actually he hesitated and then said coyly 'no' with a smile...but his face told me that he knew he shouldn't say 'yes' although he loved it

misdee · 14/11/2009 20:58

dd4 wont let me tink about stuff. she is hard work.

can i cat u about it?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 14/11/2009 21:03

ime it's worth getting some good basics from frank anyway, conch shells and the like, and then you'll see loads of other things in the house.

and ooooooooh, csws, you are OUT and proud are you? congratulations my darling.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2009 21:09

Thanks Aitch. I couldn't be arsed with the name changing all the time tbh, and I told the rl friends who lurk last night, so seemed no real reason not to. Except now hundreds of people know before our families, but hey-ho.
