Help with stocking/hamper for sd (14)

We always find my sd really hard to buy for. We don't see her very often due to distance so have no idea what games, cds etc she already has in her own house.
Dh usually gives her money or vouchers but I wanted to give her something else this year as well as she will be coming to us a couple of days after xmas for the first time. (She lives abroad so we usually post her a card with money in.)

I was thinking of doing her up a hamper as one of her presents. She's 14 and loves anything pink so was thinking a pink themed hamper with the following contents:

A pink watch, bracelet/necklace set, scarf, lip gloss, nail varnish, hair accessories set, perfume or body spray, shower gel, shower squidgy thing. Oh and pink sweets, marshmallows or pink smarties tube.

I cant include anything too big as she will have to bring it all home with her a couple of days later. Was also thinking of adding a pink travel bag for her to pack it all in when she's leaving. Dh thinks we should just give her the money but I think it's nice for her to have something to open as well. What do you think? Also is there anything I can add to the contents?

that sounds lovely. If you really need to add more you could try gel pens, little notebook, purse, tights, slippers, keyring, but tbh what you have sounds really nice as something to open.

Does she like Hello Kitty ? H and M have great hello kitty make up and wash bags etc.

Everyone loves a suprise present i'm sure she will love it i used to do this kind of thing fo my dd when she was a teen and she said that was the best bit about christmas.

I think everything has been covered i used to always include socks knickers and PJ's (could be squeezed in her luggage).

And most teenage girls love hello kitty stuff

frazzled74 · 12/11/2009 00:18

that sounds lovely and ignore dh,she will remember the hamper in years to come. She wont remember the cash.

colditz · 12/11/2009 00:20

Pah. When was your DH last a teenage girl?

It's an ace present.

like the others say if u want to add a few extras then little girly things such as notebooks, gelpens, mirror, socks, etc
next do there own range of perfume called "just pink" and for a small bottle its £5-6 , they also have a little keyring with a little tube of pink lipgloss attached- very cute ! they also have mini umberellas, maybe add 1 of these 2 ?

Hello Kitty is a favourite, I bought a very pretty Hello Kitty mug for my daughter and she absolutely love it! Another tip is perhaps include some cute miniature Japanese erasers, such as strawberry cupcakes, doughnuts, hamster, flowers. They are special, my daughter collected plenty and they look like real!

I think it is a lovely idea. And at 14 she will hopefully be old enough and wise enough to realise that it was you that organised it and not her Dad. I love Colditz's comment about when your DH was last a teenage girl!!! Use it!

shockers · 13/11/2009 08:58

If he wants to give cash too, you could put some in a little pink envelope and pop it in her hamper ( which, by the way sounds FAB!!)

MissGreatBritain · 13/11/2009 21:06

I've bought my DD (13) one of these. I know she'll love it. A bit pricy maybe, but might be an idea for her birthday instead.
