Christmas

Is anyone else starting to feel (shh!) Christmassy?

Daren't post this in chat as is only September, but this week I have started to feel very excited about Christmas (may be displacement activity as only just back from holiday and feels autumnal and much colder than before I left. Also takes mind off being back at work, housework, ferrying kids about, etc).
Am looking forward to: making lists; buying presents; shops having Carols; decorating tree; decorations and lights everywhere; Christmas programming schedules and all the lovely build-up. Anyone else feeling excited and want to discuss what they are planning, buying, looking forward to, etc?
Feel free to tell me it's September and I should bugger off / get a life, etc but as this is in Christmas section am hoping those looking at this are in same boat or maybe at least have some sympathy

I can't wait for Christmas, am working of pressies to spread the cost but no decorations go up etc till school has broken up in our house.

It does/doesn't help that I work in a shop which is getting lots of christmas stuff in at the moment.

As soon as the weather starts to turn autumnal I get a little pre-Christmas frisson. I don't start doing anything about it though, that would be far too organised.

From the majority of these posts it doesn't look like I am as alone as I deserve to be

The downside to being a Christmas Freak (for me) is that being excited hasn't translated into being organised. It also means I buy far too much tat.

Lol @ 'utter FRAK'

I'm starting to look forward to it, plan which Xmas Markets we're going to, making jam, bottling fruit for presents etc. Def a displacement activity for me, didn't want summer to end this year so I'm trying to make myself feel better about Autumn starting.

Have been excited for some time.

We have to start buying and stashing food/gifts early over a few months beforehand as we don't have a lot of money to play with.
Buying that sort of stuff makes me think about it and I get excited.

If anyone's interested in environmental issues there's a different way of getting your christmas tree!

This company brings one to your house in a pot and takes it away again after Christmas, they put it back in the ground and make sure it's alive again for you or someone else to use next year. His company is www.christmastreeman.co.uk it's very interesting.

The guy who runs it was on Chris Evans Radio show last year.

I am ! I always get the creeping excitement as soon as the term starts and when the mornings feel chilly. I bought some stuff online yesterday too, just books from the Book People. Now I'm itching to get started properly

Yes!! At least you can rely on Christmas actually arriving, unlike the British summer...

I bought DD a load of new winter clothes at the weekend and they are all making me feel very Christmassy. I can't wait to get my snow charms out and my lovely felt advent calendar on the 1st December....

Will be skint this year as moving/new baby arriving soon, so I will start shopping pretty soon.... Can't wait!

local large garden centre/all sorts of things for sale, was putting up it's bauble displays sunday.

Well known in the area as the place to go to feel xmassy due to the amazing displays, but bloody hell. We have only just started to see the sun in devon!

Am loving the Christmas Tree man! If we decide to get a real tree this Christmas, as oppose to being cheap and getting out the old hideous fake tree, then that's the way I'm going! Beautiful to have a living tree in the house!!

We get a real tree each year, there is a Christmas tree farm in our village, you can go to the field at the beginning of December and choose the one you want and they deliver to anywhere in the village.. It really is lovely

This thread made me get my act together and talk to my parents about when they are going to come to us over Christmas - and make them buy their Eurostar tickets while they are still cheap .

Might start menu planning! I've got my parents staying for four days, my out-of-laws for Christmas Eve and my sister and family for Christmas Day, so there is going to be a lot of catering.

Must also buy some new plates...
