A bin. I kid you not.

LaundryFairy · 29/12/2008 19:43

A subscription to a fablulous comic called The DFC. (Can't recommend it highly enough - great stories by people like Philip Pullman, cool graphics and NO ADS). It was pretty much ignored in the present unwrapping frenzy, but he has spent ages since pouring over the comics and I know he'll love getting a copy each week for the next year.

dd1 - everything...she has played most with her HSM cd and her camera

dd2 (19 months) Set of russian dolls (bought for dd1)

sunnygirl1412 · 29/12/2008 19:56

Ds3, 11, says his best present was his electric guitar - and he has played it, and bought himself a book on teaching yourself the guitar - but we also gave him a 'leather' motor-racing jacket, £8 from Primark - and he has only taken it off to sleep or when eating something really messy - so I'd say that it was the biggest hit.

Ds1 got a new hydraulic brake for one of his bikes (cycles not motor), and we literally had to prise it out of his grip so he could unwrap some more presents (he's 15)!!

Ds2's best present was a Tottenham shirt with his name on the back - but dh is saying he can only wear it for 'best' because it wasn't cheap! I find the concept of a 13 year old boy keeping any t-shirt in 'best' condition a little far fetched, myself!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 29/12/2008 21:29

roisin · 29/12/2008 21:31

ds1 (11) got a PC game called SPORE, which has meant he needs to be prised off the computer to eat and sleep!

Ds1 (8) wii
Ds2 (1) drum.. yippee

Bink · 29/12/2008 22:19

Oh, roisin, dh just got Spore for ds & dd, having read a rave about it in the London Review of Books (of all surreal options for puff-placement).

Otherwise, ds (9.5) and dd (8) have been competing hotly for access to the collected Le Petit Nicholas (not in French, of course) stories. It is currently in limbo reserve in the bathroom, waiting as a reward for whoever gets dressed first tomorrow morning.

skramblenotdieting · 30/12/2008 00:17

DS (12) Bran and lavender sleeping monkey, he has carried about since Christmas day like a newborn baby .

DD (9) Well she just seems happy with everything, especially a jewlery box and of course the Wii that her and her brother got.

roisin · 30/12/2008 17:24

Celia2 - these things make no sense to me
But ds1 says that the minimum (I have no idea what these units are!) to run spore is 3.0, which is what our PC is.
4.0 is Optimum for Spore apparently.

Occasionally it has crashed on him, but not often.

I haven't actually seen much of him as he's been on the PC so much! We are normally fairly strict during termtime, and quite frankly there isn't much time once homework is done, so I've been quite laidback this hols. He'll have to go cold turkey on Thursday as we're going to my mum's for a few days.

roisin · 30/12/2008 17:26

Bink - let me know how they get on. With my Quaker education I keep trying to influence ds1 towards diplomacy and negotiation and peaceful interactions, but he seems to think that wiping out all the other civilizations is the most effective way to succeed

HaventSleptForAYear · 30/12/2008 17:27

Surprise hit in this house with DS1 (4) & 2 (2) = very realistic looking large puppy from Ikea from my brother.

Remote control Brio train - bored with already!

Bink · 30/12/2008 18:49

roisin, they're having a lovely time - ds at the controls; dd doing back seat driving running commentary, as she does ... She says "we sometimes try to negotiate, but if when they just the moment they see us start thumping us for no reason [perchance this is ds1?] then we fight"

janeite · 30/12/2008 18:52

DD1 13 Topshop vouchers, Kate Moss perfume

DD2 11 - sewing machine and a huge box of sewing related bits and bobs, fimo clay
