Was feeling very pleased with myself and got dh a wii as a present - as I thought he would never spend the money on himself. He was pleased and opened it and played for 5 mins and then told me it was a great present but he's too old 29 - and he is happy with a book - and yes it's fun when he plays with my bil etc but he doesn't really want one himself.
He then told me to sell it on ebay or some such place and by myself a kitchen aid - because that he would enjoy eating the benefits and he is quite determined - do I force him to keep it? Do I buy my much longed for Kitchen Aid. I did also buy him a few books and a CD and DVD from ds.

sounds like you are too forgiving of his rude and insensitive ways. Some things are more important than money, like appearing grateful for a present. If my husband had said this, the Wii would have ended up in the pond!

timmette · 26/12/2008 10:29

Mousymum - I think he is fine and would prefer to have an honest dh who feels he can tell me the truth - than someone who would lie about it.

honesty is sometimes an excuse to be cruel though.Tell him he has to sell it as once you are given a present it is your resposibility.

Some people may not have £200 to waste just to stop them from appearing rude.

mousymum · 26/12/2008 10:41

sorry, perhaps i've been too harsh, I'm sure he is usually a lovely husband to u.

troutsprout · 26/12/2008 10:55

Very sweet of him i think

Play.com have free selling in january i think
......or there is ebay
Enjoy your kitchen aid

"he actually said he would rather spend the time with me rather than playing on the wii"

That's lovely! It's also sweet that he was pleased to open it as well... He's not ungrateful, just kind and responsible. But you know that already

Too old??

I'm 33in feb, dh 39 in march. We have spent the whole afternoon playing world tour with our boys!

I totally rock on the drums btw

Joolyjoolyjoo · 26/12/2008 17:30

The only bit I would take issue with is the "too old" line!! My DH is 39 and I am 36. Spent yesterday evening killing zombies, as did my dad and uncle (61 and 58 respectively!) Then DH and dd1 (aged nearly 5) spent hours playing Dora Saves the Snow Princess this morning. I'm not a big fan of computer games, but I like the fact that the wii is something the whole family can join in with.

But I guess it is up to him. And since I'm not sure what a kitchenaid is, I don't know whether I'd prefer one of those or not!

LittleJingleBellas · 26/12/2008 17:32

Well I'm 42 and my DB bought my kids one.

I will be elbowing them off it regualarly.

LittleJingleBellas · 26/12/2008 17:33

So that I can have a go, obv, not but I'll pretend it's because I want them to go and do something improving.
