Does your eldest child still believe in Santa?

My eldest daugher is 9 and has been asking numerous questions for the past couple of months as to whether or not FC is real.
She has gone to bed like she was when she was about 5 - soooo excited. Sigh - I don't think this is going to go on after this year

yes, well she says she does but dh thinks she's lying and I don't want to ask her outright as it doesn't seem fair.
She is very excited though more excited than her little sister actually.

my DD is 9 and she said today that when she is a mummy she isnt going to buy her children any christmas presents because it would mean that Santa isnt real.

Then coming home from my parents tonight we saw 2 lights in the sky, 2 close to be aircraft so they must have been Santa checking who was asleep.

Jas · 24/12/2008 21:32

No. She is 9, but has been wavering since the age of 6.

DD2 is 8, and still believes. Probably more now than when she was younger.

KbearingGiftsWeTraverseAfar · 24/12/2008 21:35

My DD is 9 nearly 10 and asked me this morning if I am Father Christmas. I just said "do I look like Father Christmas?" and laughed but I think this is it! She is very excited tonight though and has been tracking Santa on Norad as usual with DS and put out the Baileys and mince pie for the jolly fellow!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 24/12/2008 21:36

my DS1 is 8 and have been doing a lot of probing this year, he's was decidely unimpressed with only meeting a "pretend" FC at Selfridges on Monday, and I'm pretty sure that this time next year the magic will be all gone for him on that one.

Hassled · 24/12/2008 21:36

My oldest child is 21 so let's hope so .

Youngest is 6 and still keeps the faith.

Kristingle · 24/12/2008 21:39

no but she is 22

neither does the 9 year old

but the younger ones still believe

TLESinChristmasStockings · 24/12/2008 21:47

Eldest is 10 and has told me "Santa must be real Mummy as I asked him for a smile for you as you miss your dad so much at christmas and you have been smiling all day today, he brought your present early"

GodzRestYeMerryBumcheek · 24/12/2008 21:51

Nope. My eldest child(ren) are 11, do not believe in Santa, haven't for a few years now. We have fun keeping the secret from younger members of the family (yes, what a jolly way to get one's larfs ) and by me pretending they don't know. Cue silliness this evening about where to hang their stockings for me Santa to have ease of accessibility.

Oh dear i am a bit sad aren't i?

BONKERZ · 24/12/2008 21:53

ds is 8 and still believes, he wrote to santa and got a card back (love royal mail!) he has also been tracking santa all day and ealier on at about 6pm ish we were upstairs getting in pjs and looked out the window to see if it was snowing and ds and dd happened to see santa walking down our path and deliver a letter, then santa walked out our garden and waved at the children!!!!!! DS went mad, he was so excited and DD was jumping about like a kangaroo!!!! Santa had delivered a letter and ds read it and was so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

slavetomykids · 24/12/2008 21:54

Dd is 14. She would laugh in your face.

IAmTheNewQueenOfMN · 24/12/2008 21:56

my oldest is eight

this year she told me that santa isn't real and she tried to tell her best friend too
I told her of course he is and smiled at her and I think she realised.

she tried to tell her best friedn who wouldn't have any of it and I stopped her tryin to convince her as it was upsetting her

I think she just wants to be told she is very clever for working out that it is mummy and daddy that do the presents and then she can still join in and beleive.
she was very happy to put out the food and drink for santa and his reindeer, she also tolf her little sisters that he wouldn't come if they didn't go to bed
and then she was asking me to track him and asked her dad if santa would burn his bum on the fire as she was helpin him light it

santasinmywaistband · 24/12/2008 21:56

TLES that is so lovely

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 21:57

no
he's 5 and we have done fc as a nice story
he is still wildly excited

random · 24/12/2008 21:57

I hope not shes 29

TLESinChristmasStockings · 24/12/2008 22:02

santainmy
I had to sneak off to the bathroom as i had a good ole blubber lol.

ssd · 24/12/2008 22:03

no he's 10

roisin · 24/12/2008 22:06

ds1 has known for certain that FC is not real since he was 5

ds2 (9) is still wavering. He told me today that he will believe in FC if he doesn't get any presents tomorrow, because he hadn't seen FC this year or sent him a letter or email, so FC won't know what he wants!
