Or not?

We only started doing stockings last year and for the life of me I can't remember what we did with them.

Yes. But we don't let the children open their other presents until after lunch (so about 4pm!!) so the poor loves have to have something to unwrap.

DarksomeNight · 23/12/2008 17:06

yes I wrap them

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 23/12/2008 17:13

yes wrapped here.. it keeps the pressy opening going longer!!!!!

IAmTheNewQueenOfMN · 23/12/2008 17:15

yes wrapped here
but they only have 3 small things apart from the choc coins, clementine and coins

I second the slowing down the inevitable etting out of bed

Myrrhcy · 23/12/2008 17:24

Tissue paper is a very good idea actually - much easier for the little fiddly things.

Thanks all, I think I'll do a mixture of wrapped/unwrapped depending on the present.

and lol at NAB's dc getting vegetables in their stockings!!!

Of course you wrap them, the whole fun is in the unwrapping!!

mywayisbest · 23/12/2008 17:57

only wrap one or two of the gifts - the best ones iyswim.

Always have a cracker sticking out of the top too.

TsarHumbug · 24/12/2008 13:26

Oooh I LOVE the cracker idea myway!I think I might do that too. Dc love crackers.

I'm just going to sort out the stockings (ie get them out the loft) as dh has got them out of the way for 5 mins.

I must say, reading this, I do like the idea of the stocking presents wrapped. I can see it would make it all last longer. One to to remember for next year now though!

unavailable · 24/12/2008 13:35

Yes - another vote for wrapped but no tags.

A word of caution - My ds told me that he began to suspect father christmas didnt exist when he noticed the wrapping paper of his stocking presents was the same as the paper used by me for the under tree presents.

Well, he was 16 at the time!

Guadalupe · 24/12/2008 13:35

we wrap two or three small things

Umlellala · 24/12/2008 13:54

LOL at unavailable's 'observant' teen, my parents apparently had to buy different wrapping paper throughout my childhood as I commented gaily one xmas 'oh look FC uses the same wrapping paper as you'. Think I was about 4 though

And my dad was brill at disguising presents and yes, even the 10p chocolate would be wrapped and disguised in a cracker shape. Or with extra edges added. Must have taken forever

Othersideofthechannel · 24/12/2008 14:17

Yes we wrap.

NAB, did you roast the veg for lunch?

NAB3hundredChristmaslights · 24/12/2008 14:21

I think we might have done.

Damn, I have used the same paper on some presents

faithandhope · 24/12/2008 14:27

My DS noticed about the wrapping paper last year so just told him Santa ran out so used some of ours I had left out for him.

TheBlonde · 24/12/2008 14:35

yes we wrap

janeite · 24/12/2008 14:38

We wrap. But this year FC has used the same paper as mummy and daddy! They are 13 and 11 now though, so I think they'll cope!

thell · 24/12/2008 14:38

Yup, I've gone for roughly wrapped in coloured tissue, no tags.
I'm also doing what my Mum did to put off having to get up, and add a cereal bar and carton of juice. DD is always really hungry when she wakes up and demands breakfast quite quickly. I've put in a Thomas The Tank Engine magazine too, so that should keep her occupied for a bit

janeite · 24/12/2008 14:39

We don't wrap the packets of cereal or the tangerines though.

MadameCastafiore · 24/12/2008 14:40

Yep - I wrap everything - stand still too long in my house and you will be mummified in festive paper and adorned with a big bow!

SnowballsintheSky · 24/12/2008 14:43

Does no one wrap the satsuma in tinfoil. My mum FC always did when I was little.

notevenamousie · 24/12/2008 14:44

Wrapped here too. Because my mum did, very little else I have taken on, but this is much as things were!

janeite · 24/12/2008 14:46

Satsuma in tinfoil - I might pinch that!

SugarBird · 24/12/2008 14:48

Yep, we wrap too. And keep separate (cheap!) paper hidden away so it's different from all the family/friends' presents under the tree. DCs are teens now but can't bring myself to do it differently .

ggirlsbells · 24/12/2008 15:03

we wrap but there isn't that much in the stocking,
satsuma
3 or 4 little presents and some sweets.

Bonkerz how on earth does it take 3 hrs to open all their presents.Do they play with them before opening the next one?
We're lucky if it lasts 30 mins in this house.
