How old are your kids? We do The Snowman with our little 'un, but we used to watch Mary Poppins or Oliver Twist as 9slightly older) kids.

They are only 2.5 and 1 so their attention span is short. Have sister and BIL here on Christmas Eve too so we were thinking of a kid's short film then one for the adults once they are in bed

i've ordered 'it's a wonderful life' for dd and i - going to curl up on christmas eve with bubbles and chocs and watch this as i've heard only good things!! not sure about the children's film though.... bit of night garden?!?!

MrsMattie · 22/12/2008 18:36

The Snowman would be perfect, then. Or the other Raymond Briggs animation - 'Father Christmas'. Do you have Sky? There are loads of Christmas cartoons and kid's films on all the kids channels at the moment. I am sky plus-ing them like mad!

i have a lovely "christmas childrens favorites" thing here.... my 2 yo loves it...
fireman sam, percy the park keeper, barney the dinosaur , angelina balerina etc.. bob,.....short but sweet, but long enough to keep the kids interest for a bit!

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 22/12/2008 18:38

The running time on The Snowman is 50 minutes, perfect for just before bed.

thean · 22/12/2008 18:45

The Bear, the snowman or for older children Polar Express is lovely

MrsMattie · 22/12/2008 18:48

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 22/12/2008 18:49

If you are looking for short movies, we have A Winnie The Pooh Christmas dvd which both DS's love (even tho DS1 is now almost 9 ). Now they are older, they love everything from Home Alone to Miracle on 34th St, The Grinch and Polar Express.

BeauticianNotMagician · 23/12/2008 06:36

twentypence · 23/12/2008 06:50

Shrek the halls or the Penguin short from Madagascar are Christmas holiday before bed treats here. Both very short.

nappyaddict · 23/12/2008 08:23

oooh how much are the snowman bath bars?

ChipButty · 23/12/2008 08:37

Polar Express in our house. Can't wait! Snuggled up in our new PJs...

AbbaFan · 23/12/2008 08:42

For children so little - I would go with something like the Postman Pat christmas special. Only about 25 mins long.

BeauticianNotMagician · 23/12/2008 22:43

Only about £1.50 if that.I bought myself a santa one i love them they chill me out every christmas.
