... a bag of peanuts and a large Cardboard box - One that she and her sister can climb into and play with. (She did also ask for a barbie doll, and a polly pocket doll)

That is just sooo cute, and I'm so proud of her for not being overly materialistic! Have got her most of the things she asked for - went and bought the peanuts today, but am having a nighmare sourcing a huge cardboard box - can get medium sized ones, crisp box sized a plenty, but can I find a huge one? Not for love nor money! Any ideas anyone?

Also, what should I do with it? Normally I would wrap her presents, but don't feel as though I could just wrap an empty cardboard box??? Any ideas???

Thanks

Go to your nearest supermarket and just ask.

We've done that for DD as we are going to try to make her a house out of it. Tesco's gave us the HUGE ones that the TV's are packed in

reindeercantdancethetango · 21/12/2008 22:57

what age is she and her sis? (so we can work out how big a box you need)

NotanOtter · 21/12/2008 22:57

my ds asked for a 'new toothbrush'

wilbur · 21/12/2008 22:57

If the supermarket won't give you one, you can buy huge moving-type boxes from self storage places.

snice · 21/12/2008 22:57

Go to an electrical shop and get the sort of one washing machines are packed in

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 21/12/2008 22:58

call a local removals companie.. ask to buy one of their boxes and explain why.. I'm sure they'd give you one

( my dd wants 3 things: a drum set, sweets and a Happy meal !!

techpep · 21/12/2008 22:58

removals companies will sell the wardrobe boxes individually and they are definitely big enough to have a good game in.

skrimbo · 21/12/2008 22:58

My DD asked for a pork pie again

ketal · 21/12/2008 23:06

Thanks for the Ideas. Have tried a supermarket and pet store, but to no avail. DD is 5, and younger sis is 2. Will try removals company and electrical shop tomorrow.

AFX - Did you wrap the box, or just leave it? Not quite sure what to do with it???

Well we haven't actually made it yet but we're just gonna leave it - she's only 11 months old so won't really know the difference. Plus there is NOT enough wrapping paper for this thing.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 21/12/2008 23:10

I'd just out some ribbon round the box?

My DS (4.11) asked for 'toy wine'. But he doesn't know what it means either

Notreallycutoutforthis · 21/12/2008 23:11

Not out. Put. D'oh.

PortAndStilton · 21/12/2008 23:11

When I was three I asked for a packet of peanuts, a cheque book and a balloon.

dizzyjingles · 21/12/2008 23:13

just get stickers of her favourite character and let her decorate it

PortlySackSantaInAdvent · 21/12/2008 23:14

Might this help?

ninedragons · 21/12/2008 23:21

Put a post on Freecycle. Somebody is bound to have bought a washing machine or a fridge recently.

Sassyfrassy · 22/12/2008 09:03

Ikea sell moving boxes if that would be big enough.

mogs0 · 22/12/2008 20:11

Could you throw a blanket or duvet cover over it instead of wrapping? Or do you have a christmassy table cloth? I'll lend you mine if you like!!

KateF · 22/12/2008 20:18

We did big box play at the playgroup I work in-got them from a local furniture store. It was great

DoNotsAntlers · 22/12/2008 20:20

Go and hang out near Toys r Us.

i have seen no end of huge boxes loitering around hte carpak as people have realised that the item they have just bought doesn't fit into teh boot of the car in the box.
