you were eating out Christmas day and Boxing day? I have to buy some veg to take on these days also a dish of something or other. But i always feel i still have to go mad and buy loads of 'goodies' even though we are out for the two days.
What would you buy in my situation so that i still get the Christmassy feel at home?

Maybe some nice smoked salmon/ pate/cheese and crackers. Quality street?

I would revert to good old fashioned meal planning, but plan extra special meals. Then only buy what you need for those meals, adding some special drinks and a restricted amount of nibbles.

I know how you feel actually. We are coming back to UK for Xmas so need to buy no Xmas food. We went to Carrefour today and the place is stacked to the gunnels with festive goodies. I felt a bit that we weren't staying home.

Then remembered that we spent a bloody fortune last Xmas on food, and Xmas afternoon I had to FORCE dh to play trivial pursuit in an attempt to keep him off the PC. I'll get what I'm given for Xmas dinner this year, but at least there will be other people!

I've got some chocolates/nibbly bits in, not much though. Yes, cheese and crackers would be nice, going to make mince pies, maybe get a christmas cake.
Ok, so will plan a few meals, not quite sure how to make them abit more special though?? Don't want to spend loads of money when we are not really in for the two main days! Thanks

Are you having big meals out?

I would get nice breakfast things in (croissants etc) and then some nice fruit (berries, pineapple etc) and either the stuff to make a nice soup (squash/garlic bread) or a stew. Something not too indulgent if you have eaten loads and that you can heat up when you want.

We are having christmas dinner out and then also stay for tea. The same on boxing day. Still feel i need 'stuff' in the house for when we are at home but don't see the point in going mad.
I will get nice breakfast stuff, cheese/biscuits/ but i need to think of some nice meal ideas for the days after boxing day. Dh reckons he is going on a healthy eating regime after boxing day That has annoyed me abit cos i thought we might indulge ourselves abit whilst we are off work!
