hopefully the title says it all! Only guidelines the host has given are that babies aren't included, though not sure if she means under 1s as babies or what...
we've tried to get in touch to clarify but no joy and need to go shopping in a bit.
thank you!

An idea at all about ages? Who else is going?

I would stick to £5 max - possibly less

get something like a little teddy or other animal

cute for older, ok for younger

or a pack of pens and a notebook

or playmobil special

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 20/12/2008 12:12

colouring books,pencils and a teddy

LIZS · 20/12/2008 12:19

stickers

Spink · 20/12/2008 12:39

Ok, we have an update on ages - 0-10yrs!
so that narrows it down

0-10, hmm, a ball?

pigleypudding · 20/12/2008 16:10

only things I can think of are :

A teddy- maybe something xmas related.

Bubbles

could do sweets but not quite so good for younger ones.

Bouncy balls

Balloons

Tricky one as its such a W-I-D-E age range!!

TooFoggy · 20/12/2008 16:23

money box
book ends

TooFoggy · 20/12/2008 16:36

john lewis had owl money boxes for about £5

PortAndStilton · 20/12/2008 17:12

Stickers. Chocolate coins.

Does this person have children, if they think that all under-10s can be lumped together like that?

Oooh! ELC do a cracker-making kit for £4 or so -- that might be good.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 20/12/2008 17:19

Actually, a book voucher is a very good idea.

Why didn't they give more guidance for age groups?

Selection box? Could then be eaten by parents if chilf too young.

Scoubidou threads? and state it is for an older child.

I'd personally steer clear of cuddly toys as we have sooo many and hate it when they get more

I expect it is too late as you will have already been out shopping.

What did you decide on?

Spink · 20/12/2008 19:19

actually we're going to go shopping tomorrow morning as just got too hectic (disorganised ) this afternoon..

Anyway, I am putting off making a decision til the morning. So far I have narrowed it down! I like the money box idea, and the book vouchers. Though they might be more appreciated by the parents and not be much fun to open.. I could just buy something for a more narrow age range, hope that not everyone has done that, and tell the host when I get there so he can direct the pressie to the right (aged) child...
Think I'm going to steer away from sweets as I've just been to an NCT party and reminded that some parents have strong views about sugar!

oddly the hosts have 2 (under 10 yrs old) children so I am tutting at them even more

thanks everyone for your ideas.
and Merry Christmas!!!!

I would get a book or crafty thing. Do you have one of those cheap bookshops? I think they are called the works. They have loads of cheap stuff like that. Failing that wilkos.
