What have you bought for nursey staff

Need to buy some presents for nursey staff. What have you MN's bought? Used to be easier when they had key workers but now they don't will have to get quite a few presents. Especially because DD1 is in with the big children and DS2 is in the baby room. Either that or it's the big box of chocolates option? Any ideas?

Bottle of wine each.

thisisyesterday · 18/12/2008 21:17

nothing

although, we are going to be making igngerbread tomorrow so might take some in for them

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 18/12/2008 21:19

I gave the teacher and the assistant teacher a gift voucher to a book store and a craft store respectively. I thought they might be innundated with chocolates, pointsettias and mugs.

The wine sounds like a very good idea as it keeps, so even if they don't use it at Christmas they can enjoy it later in the year.

hohohoIdolikeTurkey · 18/12/2008 21:20

We're giving John Lewis vouchers to key workers and wine to others.

yorkiegal · 18/12/2008 21:22

I'm rather proud this year have made snowman soup for them and attached a small bottle bubble bath for the key workers.
about half way down this page
We made them for my eldest daughters friends as well

me23 · 18/12/2008 21:25

I didn't realise we were supposed to get anything! we can barely buy gifts for each other.

techpep · 18/12/2008 21:28

i work in a nursery and a simple "thankyou for all your hard work" is the most appreciated crimbo pressie

pecanpie · 18/12/2008 21:32

bottle of fizz (jacob's creek pink stuff) for key worker and boxes of Waitrose luxury mince pies for the 8 other ladies who work in DDs room or the office. Nothing spectacular but I'm sure they get plenty of chocs and at least this way they can take something home and they feel appreciated (I hope!).

twinklytoes · 18/12/2008 21:36

love the snowman soup. we made fudge here.

SparklyBaubleFeast · 18/12/2008 21:37

lindt chocolate in shape of a bell for teacher, which i am very pleased about as school is oldfashioned type which does have a proper bell
some truffles for TA

SparklyBaubleFeast · 18/12/2008 21:38

am always scared of dc's dropping wine - pretty certain that would happen.

aGalChangedHerName · 18/12/2008 21:40

My dd1 has 4 "teachers". One is a teacher, one is the nursery manager and 2 are nursery nurses.

I got each one a round body brush from the Body Shop and a box of Lindor chocs.

They have been soooo wonderful with my dd1 that i wanted to give them something at Xmas.

tinseltwiddler · 18/12/2008 21:41

Baked ours two big bags of chocolate orange biscotti today. DD helped

mckenzie · 18/12/2008 21:42

We bought M&S socks, pack of 3 pairs for £3. Lovely colours and patterns to choose from, present looks nice but is easy to wrap and we all wear socks at sometime don't we?

hunnybun1981 · 18/12/2008 22:02

dueinnovember · 19/12/2008 19:58

Yorkiegal what's snowman soup? From the photos it looks like you are definately a domestic goddess of some sort but am slightly confused. Like the idea of the Jacobs Creek pink fizz and lush bath bombs. Am very impressed by all the homemade stuff going on but think I'll go to the shops instead now you've given me some good ideas.

I made some biscuits which DS (19 months) 'decorated'. They looked blimmin' awful but it's the thought that counts. Right?

mrstimlovejoy · 19/12/2008 20:33

i got dd's 3 teachers [playschool] a gold star bath melt from lush.smells gorgeous.

Haribolicious · 19/12/2008 20:47

I got the gold stars from Lush too Mrstlj! Great minds Love the snowman soup idea tho (must remember 4 next year!)

SpankyouHardOnChristmasNight · 19/12/2008 21:23

Lottery ticket in each of their christmas cards and a mag subscription for the whole nursery as it were.

Cloudhopper · 20/12/2008 00:39

Crikey - I feel bad here. how much in vouchers are you all giving?

I have got a 15 pound asda gift card and boxes of chocs from woolworths closing down sale.

Am sure that sounds worse than it is.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 20/12/2008 00:43

I went with the boring old chocolates , but liking lots of the suggestions on here, will file 'em away for next year!

In our work, if people bring in wine, the boss takes it (even though he is teetotal, the meanie )
