Etiquette for giving gifts to siblings

I collect my friend's DD from school each day and bring her back to my house where her CM collects her. She has a brother who is 13/14 yo but who I have only met once.

Obviously I have a gift for the little girl, but would you give a little something to the boy too? I don't want to look mean but equally, if I can save myself a tenner, then that is what I would rather do .

Brilliant, thanks for that. That means that my Christmas shopping is officially finished!

The only reason I would is if I was going to the house to give her the gift and her brother would be there. If that were the case I ould get a token £2 choccie thing so he doesn't feel left out.

But having actually read the op properly I would only do that if they were both little and the brother was likely to feel sad about it - at 14 I think he can probably cope with his little sister getting something he doesn't! Congratulations on finishing your shopping

If he's 13/14 yo, then definitely not. 3 or 4, maybe, because they're less likely to understand at that age.

Dannat · 18/12/2008 11:33

That's what I thought but I have this terrible thing of not sorting one out without the other, but I suppose he is old enough to understand, plus there is the small thing of only having met him once.

Thanks for the congrats NCRBB. It's just the wrapping now but the rest of it is done so its only the things I bought today and DH's xbox when it arrives (after Christmas).
