Tastes like chicken.

Aitch · 15/12/2008 23:11

think about the difference between steak and venison. it's like that gap, between a good chicken and goose.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 15/12/2008 23:11

It is lovely, it does make a huge amount of fat so you need to drain constantly but sweetie gosse is very expensive.

twinsetiscrapatflouncing · 15/12/2008 23:12

So if he loves chicken, which he does will he like goose.

So it is nothing like duck.

DH - texture is like duck, and a bit stronger tasting than duck.

Also trying to organise a bit f riding for your DD when you come down for the day.

moondog · 15/12/2008 23:14

I'm having a goose.
One plucked by my salt colleague which is a bit mad.

soapbox · 15/12/2008 23:14

It tastes like greasy chicken/turkey.

Yes, it is greasy, like duck, but it does not have the gaminess of duck.

soapbox · 15/12/2008 23:15

I think it depends whether he dislikes duck because it is greasy, or because of its taste.

If it is the former then he will not like goose!

twinsetiscrapatflouncing · 15/12/2008 23:15

here is the article of course I do not have a clue if there is a Lidl near me!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 15/12/2008 23:16

there are 2 lidl's in poole

FiveGoMadInDorset · 15/12/2008 23:16

and one in weymouth

twinsetiscrapatflouncing · 15/12/2008 23:17

He says it is because of the taste, he is laughing at me trying to pursuade him into a goose.

I just thought we dont like turkey and a chicken goes nowhere and I would like some leftovers.

OP posts:
Coldtits · 15/12/2008 23:25

It tastes like duck

Coldtits · 15/12/2008 23:25

What about a nice capon?

Coldtits · 15/12/2008 23:26

Capon is chickeny but more so. And also nice and big.

twinsetiscrapatflouncing · 15/12/2008 23:29

Dp has said there is no way we could fit a frozen goose in the freezer.

OP posts:
twinsetiscrapatflouncing · 15/12/2008 23:30

Have never heard of a capon, is it nice as well as big? Is it expensive?

OP posts:
Aitch · 15/12/2008 23:57

we used to get a capon before the family got too big. it's just a large chicken, isn't it?

twinsetiscrapatflouncing · 16/12/2008 00:09
