about Santa?

ds1 is 10 for the last couple of years he's been making noises about not believing in Santa as it wasn't possilbe. Still I think there is a part of him that believes. Ge gas come right out and asked me and I'm vague.

At what point do I tell him the truth? And what do I do about ds2 (6) who most definitely still believes?

I think if he says 'that's pants mum' you have to say 'yes, you are right, but if you believe, it's real, so you mustn't tell your brother'

noiamnot · 14/12/2008 21:24

he's already said that. must I backtrack now?

Im never going to tell mine, I think they have a few years when they are not sure and I would like to keep the magic alive as long as possible. My 9 year old still believes. To be honest on Christmas Eve so do I !

noiamnot · 14/12/2008 21:25

he's said it in a questioning way though....

You have the same age gap as mine and I am worried that if I am honest with DS1 then DS2 will find out too.

DS1 asked me a few weeks ago and I have told him that we buy the big presents under the tree but that FC brings the stockings. He is hedging his bets at the moment.....you can see he really does think it might not be true but he is worried that if he stops believing he will get nothing .

Just say that its up to him to make his mind up, but if he decides that he doesn't exist it would be a shame to ruin the magic for his brother? (I have this speech prepared for my 7 year old who still believes but may be asking questions next year)

bellaBuonNatalevita · 14/12/2008 21:27

DS1 (11.6) said something to me a few months about their not being one. I asked him how long he had thought this and he said for a quite a while. I asked him not to spoil it for DS2 (9) and in fairness to him he still goes along with it in front of DS2.

that's mine exactly mrssimm.

We have always told DS that it's just a story and a tradition (he's 4.6 now). He only gets a stocking every alternate Christmas when we spend it in Dublin. The other years we spend Christmas in Malaysia where they don't have a tradition of Father Christmas. He knows that it's really Granny who brings the stocking.

Funnily, he's showing signs of doubting us and believing his school friends. He has been trying to prove to DH and I that Santa does exist.

Never unless they ask. When my children asked I just said to them what do you think. DD1 stopped believing at 7;5. DD2 and 3 were 11 well DD3 was almast 12.
They are noe 31, 19 and 16 and all still love to pretend they believe and piut out stockings.

mumeeee · 14/12/2008 21:36

DD1 is 21 not 31!
