Anyone know of any sort of table you can get for a bunk bed? Maybe one that attaches to the side of the bed?

I was looking for something too - so will be interested in replies.

Tho' I'm wondering if something like this might be safer:

Try that as a link:

Ooh, now that looks good - will have to mesure up tp see if it could fit in under the picture rail....

Mmm I"m wondering if I could get FIL to make one. He's pretty good at making shelves out of old bits of wood, paint it white and there you go!

It's quite expensive for what it is I think - tho' it does look like it would work...

Wonder if anyone else has something cheaper?

You can get bunk bed accessories from Flexa beds, not sure if they fit all bunk beds tho'

Tidy Books do a bunk bed shelf that fixes to the wall - I don't have it but I am very pleased with their bookcases. Looks a good solution for anyone who piles up books next to the bed.

D'oh should have followed the Kids Window link before I posted as it's the same thing.

If you just want something to hold books/magazines you could just do what I did - I bought one of these from Ikea

www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00119645

and hung it from a nail on the wall

fondant4000 · 14/12/2008 09:15

Excellent

Like your idea of asking FIL (yes, that bookshelf does sound rather expensive...) - not sure if mine could make one tho, even tho he was a brickie and now does other handyman jobs

That table might work, but not sure how it remains horizontal from that pic - DD's bed has bars, not wooden sides.

I was thinking of something she could put a clock, etc on as well as books, so I think the IKEA thing wouldn't work. THey might have something else we could cannibalise instead tho!

Actually maybe a narrow kitchen shelf would work? IKEA might have one with a bar on the front of the shelf to stop stuff falling off.

maddylou · 14/12/2008 10:14

we just put a shelf on the wall at the right height

NorbertDentressAngel · 14/12/2008 10:14

DD has something similar to this Shaker-style shelf (but a lot cheaper!) next to her mid-sleeper bed.

She hangs various bits and pieces in drawstring bags from the pegs and has her clock and drink on the shelf

iheartdusty · 14/12/2008 11:35

If you need a quick fix, we hung a child's bike basket from the side of the bed, DS has his nightlight and water bottle in there.

cherryontopofthexmastree · 14/12/2008 11:54

i would just put up a shelf at the required level, thats what we have done for ds2.

flipflopper · 14/12/2008 14:49

We have just got this bed for dd but it didn't come with the storage thing that hangs on the side which was a bit annoying, will ave to ring them up to see if they sell it seperate

bigTillyMint · 14/12/2008 14:51

Great ideas everyone - thanks
