Has anybody else two children of same sex close in age and ended up buying two sets of nearly every present?

It's insane really, but the dd's are incredibly aware of what the other one gets and they are into the same things.

Therefore the vast majority of presents for them is identical.

I have two boys who are 12 months apart and I have bought presents for both of them to play with

bigger things to share
stocking stuff to share
Bike always new, think DS2 deserves a new bike of his own like DS1 had

I have 3 girls in 3 years and they share, they only have a few special items that are theirs everthing else the share we have a few baby annabels though but they've been inherited.

emkana · 14/12/2008 20:10

The things they are getting aren't really "share-able", for example a beanbag for their room.

Tbh I'm surprised that some people buy "bigger" things for each child (apart from the obvious like bikes). Things like a dolls' house, a farm set, toy shop, boxes of craft stuff etc my daughters shared without any suggestion at all that they needed two. Maybe some of you live in bigger houses than I do though!

i used to do this when dd1+2 were younger, but now they are older all three girls are so so different in their tastes that there would be no point.

mind you, stocking fillers are generally the same or similar as they all love pens, notesbooks etc etc.

NotanOtter · 14/12/2008 20:25

despite having 6 children and 5 of one gender he spacing means this is the first time i have experienced this and 'yes' emkana i am finding myslef doubling up on a lot

saves arguments and encourages them to play together i think
