er, no

he comes on Christmas Eve

MrsMattie · 13/12/2008 21:35

We have 'presents from Father Christmas' (arrive on Xmas Eve down the chimney! ) and presents from friends and family (which appear under the tree in the days up to Xmas. Otherwise what do you do...pretend presents from grandparents and aunts etc are from FC?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 13/12/2008 21:35

How can santa's presents be under tree now

nancy75 · 13/12/2008 21:35

i dont think you give him the money for the presents the elves make them, so they are free!
everything we have got for dd is from father xmas and everything else is from whoever bought it, if i put any under the tree now they would be open by tomorrow night, keep them in the cupboard

thisisyesterday · 13/12/2008 21:35

we don't even have a tree up yet! and presents go under on christmas eve, after all, that's when Father CHristmas comes right??

i hate having stuff out too early because then you're so used to it being there by christmas day it just isn't exciting any more

DorrisMcWenceslas · 13/12/2008 21:36

Not under the tree till christmas eve / morning!
We tell the Dd's that Mummy and Daddy help Santa get the presents but then they get sent to him in Lapland! Santa then delivers them but we label them from us - it's very confusing isn't it?!

Niecie · 13/12/2008 21:36

No labels - DSs would recognise the handwriting anyway.

Presents from FC under the tree after the children have gone to bed on Christmas Eve.

Grown ups don't get presents from FC so not an issue. FC is for children only

Only presents from family under the tree - nothing from us to the children, it would spoil all the fun!

whomovedmychocolate · 13/12/2008 21:38

Ours are under the tree. DD came shopping with me FFS, it would be a bit hard to con her. Though she doesn't know about everything and she has a stocking which will be full of 'small things' on Christmas morning which may be from Father Christmas, who she says is 'pretend' (she's two and quite opinionated on this subject but did willingly go sit next to 'satan' (that's what she called him) and have a pressie last week!

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 13/12/2008 21:40

wmmc my 4 year old is similarly opinionated on him as well, very about him. She kind of goes along with it "just in case" or for our sake I think quite honestly.

TheVirginGoober · 13/12/2008 21:44

Santa only comes Christmas Eve night when kids are asleep.
Our labels read; From Mum, Dad and Santa. On everything.
All we put under the tree are presents for teachers, neighbours, kid's friends. None of ours.

This all seems very complicated. Surely presents from family go under the tree in the days leading up to Christmas. Then, on Christmas Eve, stockings are hung up and filled by Father Christmas overnight...

whomovedmychocolate · 13/12/2008 21:53

Onepieceofbrusselsprout - I have the feeling that by the time she's five she'll be telling her friends 'well of course we have to pretend for mummy's sake '

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 13/12/2008 21:55

hahahahahahahahaha ~@ the thought of leaving any present under the tree - they would be left wrapped for oooo - 30 seconds with a toddler in the house

FWIW - FC delivers all the presents on Christmas Eve while the DS's are sleeping. Those from relatives/friends etc too as well as the one from him. His elves come and collect them as soon as they're bought and take them back to wrap and label for us

DesperateHousewifeToo · 13/12/2008 21:56

Father christmas gives stocking presents and one or two bigger presents.

All the other presents also appear overnight on christmas eve-day too though, under the tree.

Unless they have been given any already, in which case they get put under the tree.

Very complicated, and the less questions and discussion about how it all works, the better, imho .

If they were to question me though...we buy their presents from us and fc buys and delivers those from him!

FC comes on Christmas Eve, so can't leave anything under the tree. The only gifts we put under the tree are from the children's school friends, my work colleagues and dp's students.

piscesmoon · 13/12/2008 21:57

He comes on Christmas Eve and only appears when DCs are asleep. I think you will have great problems writing thank you letters if it all came from FC.

whomovedmychocolate · 13/12/2008 22:00

I think my niece made a valid point when she aid (aged three) 'how come father christmas is a daddy when mummies do all the christmas shopping?'

noonki · 13/12/2008 22:04

Of course your DCs are going to sceptical if you don't hide all pressies from them, you make an effort to make it beliveable.

FC brings lots of little pressies after they are in bed and they have left a mincepie and aglass of wine (this FC hates sherry)

we then write a letter to FC and 'post' it up the chimmney

we then have to hang stockings and wait and see what happens.

The main pressies are from us and family (not having all the glory given to FC!) They are under tree for a few days before.

npg1 · 13/12/2008 22:24

That is what I mean. Sorry it's so confusing, everyone has a different version! I meant family presents only for adults will go under tree a few days before. We 'help' FC get the presents and send them yes that is what I mean as she has a list so we help FC out but they are certainly not free in this house.

No I dont think I could put under tree too soon as I have a toddler too!

But what I mean is most of you will have some kind of present under the tree beofre xmas eve, be it for adults, work colleges etc?
