What? I don't get it.....

Flower3545 · 13/12/2008 11:52

i know what you mean mulled, one year I broke some toes a couple of weeks before Christmas and had a plaster from toes to knee.

Dh for the first time in our married lives had to buy pressies do shopping and cook Christmas dinner for 10 of us.

I should have felt elated at him having to do the work but I felt left out

lol!!! i am very controlling over what tree we can have. i usually make him him hold up about a hundred trees before i decide which one will be best. i know that he and ds will be ...bish bash bosh-that one will do!

Wow - i don't care a fig about the tree (we have same plastic one we have had for last 5 years) and am sooooo happy this year as hubby has said he is going to buy all the kids pressies - yay! Less for me to do!(Am not being lazy honest- work 4 and a half days a week and have 2DS's one with severe SN)

themulledmanneredjanitor · 13/12/2008 11:59

oh well-each to their own eh? we have a real tree every year and it's a big tradition in our family-buying the tree etc and then decorating it together

yeah i guess

I guess its part of my shopping phobia (I hate buying stuff)

TheProvincialLady · 13/12/2008 12:08

I couldn't give my DH that power responsibility. It just wouldn't be fair on him. I would have waited until tomorrow. I am a control freak.

But we're not having a tree or decorations this year because DS is too young to notice (2.4) and I am due with DC2 any day now and just knew that I couldn't manage to stop DS trashing the tree for 2 weeks/taking it all down and putting the decorations back in the attic with a newborn and toddler to look after. I am gutted though

themulledmanneredjanitor · 13/12/2008 12:11

i just couldn't pl

i just couldn't go without a tree.

is there no way you can do it? why can't dh put it up in the loft when it's over?
maybe a small one to put on a table?

TheProvincialLady · 13/12/2008 12:27

I couldn't think of a place to put one where DS would not have it over, but the main reason is the hassle. DH would put it all back in the loft etc but I suppose I am in the mindset that it is going to be like after DS was born, when I was very ill for weeks and couldn't do anything and DH had no paternity leave so everything was just too much extra effort. There is no reason it should be like that this time but I can't shake the feeling that I must not make extra work.

If we had a plastic tree it wouldn't be so bad but there is a lot of extra vacuuming with a real one....oh I am a bit tempted though!

themulledmanneredjanitor · 13/12/2008 12:52

could you not go and get an artificial one?
there are some about the same price a s a real one?

compo · 13/12/2008 12:55

oh you have to have a tree if you have a 2 year old
Mine is 2.4 and if she touches it she is told no and she stops!

TheProvincialLady · 13/12/2008 13:55

I couldn't have an artificial one. Just not me. I love the smell of a real one too much.

Compo I ordered the wrong sort of 2 year old...mine stops touching things on demand, but he always goes back when I am not looking! Plus I must be honest and say that our decorations are expensive glass affairs from before we had DS, so they are not suitable for him. There is nowhere to put a tree out of his way and I can't go shopping for new ones (SPD/bedridden with cold most of this week). I know I am moaning but I have more or less written off Christmas this year. We are even having Christmas dinner courtesy of M&S including ready made roast potatoes - I am a good cook and love it all normally, never buy ready made even for a weeknight dinner but I have had to accept my limitations this year.

cheshirekitty · 14/12/2008 10:50

You can get a tree that is flat one side and sits along a wall. You could attach it to the wall so ds could not pull it down.

We've got a tiny one, (live in a small flat) so space is very limited. dh got it from b&q.
