She is (I am guessing)11 years old.

Apparantly, she is 'over' Hannah Montana. She is getting into nail varnish and smellies, and growing up, BUT does not like too mainstream or pink and fluffy (according to her mother).

She goes to private school in California. What do i get her?!!!! What type of smellies? or, could I get a nice perfume? Designery type one? If so what one?

Oh this is sooooo hard!

Ideally Amazon based, but other site welcome.

my dd lloves these there is a hair care set and a smellies set.

You can get matching straightners etc too depending on how much you want to spend.

If you're guessing her age, junior high usually means grades 7-8, so she'd be 12-14ish, so definitely over HM.

A gift certificate for the Victoria's Secret "Pink" shop. Despite the name, it isn't all pink. www.vspink.com/

On our Expat thread someone there mentioned Sephora (.com). Try there - make up perfume etc. Good luck

JacksFirstChristmasMama · 12/12/2008 02:58

Oohh, Sephora is a great idea!!

dooneygirl She is in first year of junior high, hence my confusion as to what to get her as she is now 'grown up'. The last time I looked she was 9 it just goes so fast! I was only over there 8 months ago, and she was a little girl then!

I love the hair care and smellies set, am just going to go and look at Sephora. Her hair is 'very' straight already so no straightners needed.

Califrau - thing is, I bought a fantastic present for her brother who is 2 (amazing wooden farmyard set, cost a bit more than intended as did not realisa CA has a tax thing going on ). Usually I would just buy her a voucher or something, but I want to show her she is important and thought about too, if that makes sense (she is my step niece, dont want her think that makes her less of my family).

ooooh what do you think of this? If she is into experimenting, she can practice with this? I like this...

Junior High usually means 7th-9th grade; 7th grade she'll be at least 12yo (unless she skipped a grade along the way). She could be 13, even.

A diary? That's what I did for my American god-daughter. And last year I bought her some candle holders from Accessorize (mind you, they needed posting, which I've deliberately avoided this year)

PavlovtheRedNosedReindeer · 14/12/2008 21:19

I reckon she is more like 12, she is absolutely not older than 12, and it is possibly she jumped a grade. She is super bright and goes to private school (ie paid for privately), and her mother pushes her. I have vague recollections of her being moved...but not sure if that is me or not. I was sure she was 11! I sort of don't want to ask her mother, as I should know really shouldn't i? They just grow up too fast!

So, the perfume set? I am about to buy it, but would prefer she uses it rather than her mother!!!

OR, I could buy her some actual perfume, rather than samples. If so, what would be good, for someone who is amongst rich kids...
