The budget is £10 and it's for female, no kids, early 30's. I get on well with her at work but wouldn't say I know her well so a bit stuck.

On maternity leave with a poorly baby at the moment so can't traipse round the shops for ideas.

Lots of people at our work do go for quite rude presents, but without sounding prudish I'm really not that comfortable buying rude things

Reed diffuser with a winter themed scent.
Christmas themed cookie cutters and/or cookie trays
Spode mug for her to use at work (they are about 12 pounds)
Scented candles
Tea lights with a votive candle holder
A really nice christmas decoration for her tree
A table runner and napkins
Recipe book for Christmas cookies and sweets

GraceGrapello · 10/12/2008 14:10

No to all that cooking stuff.

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 10/12/2008 14:10

DH bought a leatherman knife for his secret santa gift. It is for a 30 year old woman. I told him I didn't think that would work too well. His feelings were hurt.

TheVirginGoober · 10/12/2008 14:11

A fancy teapot.
A popcorn machine, £9.70 ish in Argos.
Hat, gloves, scarf set, very nice set in Sainsbos right now £12 and 25% off = £9.
Vodka.
Voucher.

katiechops · 10/12/2008 14:11

Nice bottle of wine. Bit unoriginal, but always goes down well.

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 10/12/2008 14:12

Oh, of course, she doesn't have children. Nail varnish does sound good then.

GraceGrapello · 10/12/2008 14:13

DO NOT GET HER A TEA POT.

DadOnAHotTinRoof · 10/12/2008 14:16

Is she into being all sporty-sport and active?
Millets do these really nifty metal water bottles for walkers/hikers/runners at about that kind of budget.

bitofasnowqueen · 10/12/2008 15:34

Thanks everyone -- had to disappear to look after aforementioned poorly baby.

Thanks to all for suggestions - GraceGrapello I think you're closest to the mark.

Oh, the nail varnish was over budget. Any evening crowd suggestions? She's still a single gal about town so cooking/housey type stuff wouldn't be her thing.

Green and Blacks seasonal chocolate selection, £8 in Boots. As long as she's not diabetic, who would ever not like a really nice box of chocs?
