Does anyone else have a Fairy that brings the Christmas Tree?

Just wondering, does anyone else do this?
As far as I know, mine is the only family that has a Fairy that brings a Christmas tree for the kids. When I was little, on the night on Dec 17th we would write a note to the Christmas Tree Fairy asking for one of the trees from the Magic Forest.
The next morning we would wake up to the glow of Christmas lights from the living room where the fairy has done her stuff. It was a magical time for us.
I have continued this tradition with my DCs, only changing the date to the 11th Dec as this is the day my father died (10 years ago) so we dedided to claim back the day to a happy occasion and honour his favourite time of year.
It can be hard work the night before but is usually softened by a large glass of Bailey's. The look of wonder and amazement of the kids' faces the next day is truly worth it though.
I'll be really quite sad when that tradition comes to a natural end and hope the children will pass it on to the next generation.
My daughter considers herself to be very lucky to be the only child in her class to have a Tree Fairy visitation. I know that others might argue that it's as much fun to decorate the tree together but there'll be plenty of time to do that in future years.

So....anyone else?

No, but we have a Fairy that brings the Advent Calendars and a Fairy that brings the Christmas pyjamas!

In our house, I'm not allowed to be involved in the choosing of the Christmas tree - dp and the dcs go out and do it - I stay home and bake something for them to eat when whey come home with the tree they've chosen. Then when it gets dary we decorate it together - with champagne (and coke).

I love your tradition, though!

\No but I'd like one.

...erm, roundcornvirgin, how do I break this to you gently.......

Well that does sound like a lovely tradition but I just couldn't cope with the logistics! I imagine the errr 'fairy' has a lot of organising to do!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 09/12/2008 08:04

Come on Aphrodite, how would a fairy be strong enough? They're tiny!
Removal of one tooth and replacement with coin - yes. Delivery of tree - really?

flamesparrow · 09/12/2008 08:12

We have a tree fairy too. DD knows that they like to be left chocolate to encourage them to work

We have a lot of fairies here though tbh, the one who brings the calendars, the one who takes the teeth, the one who does the decorations (due to come tonight), and that evil bitch fairy who swiped the dummies and bottles.

Soon I hope to introduce the colouring fairy that I had as a kid - you left a colouring book open on whichever drawing you wanted, and the fairies coloured it in (between the lines n everything) in the night. It was pure magic for me

Love the colouring fairy flame! I would love to be that fairy!

What a lovely tradition!

I'm quite sad that my boys are now too old for all the childhood deception magic . I have to accept that I now do it all really for my own benefit!

AphroditeInHerNightie · 09/12/2008 08:23

Well, Kathy, you state you're only 6 inches high- around the average size of a fairy I'd guess - how do you achieve all the mummy chores? Do you have fairy magic powers, too?

...and in reference to my other thread here, does anyone know where the Potty Fairy lives?

Alas, I never found the potty fairy - DD gave us 12 months of hell with poos, and DS just magically woke up sorted one day

fatjac · 09/12/2008 09:40

What a lovely idea and if my boys were younger I would be demanding a visit from the tree fairy.

SummatAnNowt · 09/12/2008 10:19

We had the tree and whole living room decorating fairies when i was a kid. It was lovely!

Always thought i'd do it with my own but it just hasn't worked out like that.
