This is the third year in a row I've not sent Christmas cards to ANYONE!

It's changed my life, honest!

And I haven't lost any close friends or been ostracised by any of my relatives either.

I suspect most people haven't even noticed.

Well done. I ave weedled it down to only giving them to people who give to me [stingy emoticon] that way I write them as I receive them no long lists.

EsmeWeatherwax · 08/12/2008 12:48

Well done from me too. I'm thinking of giving it up this year too, having seen several friends who don't send them, and really don't seem to suffer for it!

PuppyMonkey · 08/12/2008 12:48

Do it QF - you won't regret it at all.

Oooh. Some years I do this by mistake -always feel guilty though. I do have a category of friends whom I see extremely infrequently but still want to keep in touch with - mainly university friends. Also I very very rarely make the effort to see my aunts and uncles (not an issue for them i think, we number cousins by the hundred in our family, and I'm afraid no longer an issue for me as I want to concentrate on seeing ds's aunts and uncles) but I do want to send them something that just says 'I'm still alive and this is what we're up to'.

Thought - do you, in fact, make more effort to actually go and see people if you haven't got the safety net of 'I'll send them a Christmas card' in the back of your mind?

Yes choosy, the funny thing is it HAS made us go visit folk more in person I think. Eg, DP has met up again with his step dad for the first time in years instead of just sending the same boring old card. They had a great time together.

And tbh if folk do take the hump and cross us off their Christmas list, so be it!

This is my first year. I will be giving some out to close friends and family but not all the remote bods that I haven't seen for years and for whome I'm not even 100% sure of the address. Would have them done and suted by now. I keep having mini-panic attacks about it - 'oh god the christmas cards' but I'm trying to ignore that

I'm glad it worked out OK for you puppymonkey.
