Impossible to buy for.

God, people really take you wrongly on here don't they

I wasn't meaning a hard working dad who buys himself something now and then, I meant the sort of man who buys for himself first and his family second ALL THE TIME

gladly my dh isn't like this, we are tight for money but he's not the "spoilt" type

now who else wants to wrongly interpret my post?

georgimama · 06/12/2008 20:39

well you were the one making assumptions that a man who buys himself what he wants when he wants is doing so to the detriment of his wife and family. I don't think anyone did misinterpret your post.

ssd · 06/12/2008 20:48

then we'll need to agree to disagree

DesperateHousewifeToo · 06/12/2008 21:10

ssd- I really was not having a go at you. Just wanting to describe my bil like that of the op but not wanting anyone to think I was including the term 'spoilt' in my description, lol.

He's lovely and I would hate to think anyone who knows me on here thinking I thought that of him .

I know what you mean about some selfish people though (in time spent doing what they like as much as money spent on themselves).

ssd- I typed my post before I saw your apology- I'm sorry! I don't know anyone who behaves the way you describe who has a family though.

glad to say I have only heard of one man like this, married to a friend of a friend, thankfully not many of them about!

Hubby has picked a light thing.

It's not really 'spoilt' is it? Just being able to afford what you want. My sister is single, no dependents, buys pretty much what she wants when she wants, saves money too - is no way spoilt. If she didn't have the disposable income, she wouldn't spend it.

I often go for a years subscription to something
-top gear
-private eye
-spectator

Or (more pricey though) cheese of the month deliveries from Neals Yard.

mellyonion · 07/12/2008 11:03

thenewme....was going to suggest a blow job, but on reading further, it appears that may not be an appropriate gift for your BIL!!!! i thought it was your hubby!

glad you found a nice gift.

Umlellala, as I tried to expain earlier, spoilt to me is spending when you CAN'T afford it to the detriment of your family
