Sorry to sound like a broken record - I know there have been lots of threads started about present ideas but....my FIL is really hard to buy for Not because he hasn't got any interests or hobbies (he has many from computers to photography and reading to cookery!) but because he tends to get whatever he wants when he wants....not one to wait!
Any ideas please!? A magazine sub or national trust membership etc is a no, no....have thought about books etc am really struggling now

If he's into cookery get some really good ingredients maybe (posh olive oil and olives, that sort of thing).

For the man who has everything - antibiotics.

Anna8888 · 06/12/2008 10:20

Your FIL sounds like my father - he loves expensive toys and buys himself everything he wants .

I have bought him a very lovely and elegant man's fleece dressing gown from a French brand called Pilus. There are also very lovely similar dressing gowns by Laurence Tavernier.

or a title , he could be a "laird" cost about £30+ for a small bit of the scottish highlands that comes with the title, and gives rights to the estate/ aka will be able to use the fishing facilities.google scottish titles(sorry cant do links, too thick) lol.

mmmm.....he doesn't like football! And he'd think a dressing gown would be too boring!! Maybe antibiotics tho...he can be a bit of a hypocondriac
Everything I suggest gets shot down by DH.

What about a helicopter trip or a flying lesson or up in a hot air balloon? They are not that expensive as they are 'tasters' for 1/2 an hour.

dsrplus8 · 07/12/2008 10:11

try the website" i want one of those", theyve got little packets of "nothing"- just like it says its nothing in a plastic packet! pefect for the man who has everything- reminds him of how lucky he is to need "nothing" lol , pmsl at that for about an hour!!!!! happy shopping!x

they're on the cheap in Tesco

sticksantaupyourchimney · 07/12/2008 10:15

WHy not something he likes to eat/drink? COnsumable presents are always good because you run out of them and need more (though don't buy anything that has to be eaten/drunk within a few days because there's always so much food about at Xmas anyway.
Port, stilton, fine wine, whisky, chocolate liqueurs, smoked salmon, fancy mustards and pickles etc...
